85watt bulb for foglights

hey,

is anyone using a 85watt bulb for the fogs? do you think, its going to melt my housing? or cause any problems?

generally you are going to run 80W 9006 bulbs....not 85 unless you found a special set.

I have run them in both of my BMW's and never had an issue with melting...

Although alot of people saw to run modified 9005 bulbs if you want to upgrade the lumen output without going to crazy on the wattage.

I have 80w yellow ion fog's from SupremePower parts and haven't had any problems.

It doesn't make any difference for wiring in first few years. My friend had high wattage bulbs in his Camry. I've seen his wiring after 3 years of using them, they were looks like they going on fire next time he will switch them on.

Trust me anything higher then the factory wattage the wires are going to burn. The wire are too thin on the 4runner. I had 80 watt bulbs on the low beam and I had to change 2 of my light sockets, probably need more later. Don't do it!

Thats not true! I been running 80w bulbs for over 8 years now with no problem whatsoever. The only thing about high watts bulbs is that they don't last long . using them in projector lamp make the life even shorter because they heat up more them regular lamp.

It's real important to use dielectric grease/compound on the connections/sockets; this will create a better connection that will generate less heat.

I think I was the first one on the board to use the 85watt yellow fog light bulbs from supremepowerparts.com.(SPP). Had them for over a year, running all the time with the headlights, and never had a problem. I even checked the harness for a while to make sure I wasnt burnign anything up. No problems at all! i love the look of the yellow ion bulbs....
