From what I understand, the 2nd gen toyota trucks have a lot of interchangeable parts. The doors, glass, fenders, tailgate, and probably a handful of other parts can all swap over.
88? An '84-'89 4Runner shares a lot of similarities with the 84-88 pickups. Tacoma's are the '89+ pickups, and would indeed share a lot of similarities with the 2nd generation 4Runner.
Yeah it's just be an 87 p/u. Picking my 88 tomorrow needs either repair the power windows or replace doors to cranks. Needs a topper too but I found one at salvage. And of course the back window is stuck down .
No Tacoma's are 96+ trucks and have very little in common with the 95 and earlier truck and 4Runners.
But the 89-95 trucks and 90-95 Runners are mechanically similar to the previous trucks (84-88), same suspension (except 4runner), same motor, same drive train, different sheet metal and glass.
