'89 T4R Power window prob

Hi I'm new to these forums and before i went out to spend a load of money to get my power window fixed i wanted to see if i need to check other things first. My problem is all of a sudden my power windows stopped working and naturally they were rolled down when they stopped working . So my dad showed me a little trick where i get some jumper cables and pretty much give the motor a jump so it will roll the windows back up...this brings me to the conclusion that the window motors are still good. I'm just curious as to what sort of things should i check before trying to get it fixed in the shop.

P.S. I know very little toward to way of vehicles, i just know how to maintain them...changing oil,air filter, spark plugs...minor stuff like that.

Does it work from the in-cab or tailgate switch or not at all?

There are a number of interlock switches on the rear window.

1) The wiper must be in the fully parked position.
2) The cap interlock bolt (round head one near rear, drivers side) must be in place.
3) The tail gate must be Locked

There are also limit switches in the tailgate and a control relay board.

The rear window actually still works somewhat fine...stubborn sometimes but still works. My problem is with the driver and passenger side windows.

have you gotten water inside your truck at any time? the relays for the power windows are under the driver seat if im not mistaken, if you get them wet they will short, that would be my diagnosis

Did you get it fixed?? My 88 had the same thing happen. I used your Dad's advice and was able to jump the window closed again. I can't seem to find my relay, they say it's by the e-brake handle but can't find it.
Any help would be great,
