as long as it threads in and seals it should work the sensor may have been re designed or upgraded.

threads are different size. found random sensor at advanced auto that had a shorter insert and maybe right size threads but more of them, deeper.

nope wont work it has to be for the right year and engine.
the resistance in the sensor makes the difference.

looked and could only find connector, did not list a coolant temp sensor

lost responces and am still wondering why my truck has strange part.
still hard to verify, most pics don't tell thread size, or show connector grooves. Mine are across from each other not offset at all. What are the ramifications for running any distance like this?

4fishrunner, your truck has 2 coolant temp sensors, 1 for the gauge and 1 for the EFI.
Which do you need, and are you sure the parts stores are looking up the correct one?
You may have to try the dealer, and if you do, have the VIN and build date handy, it can make a difference.

The question goes on three names for same part
Rockauto sent me the wrong part, so i went to dealer and they said part number is this, and it is called COLD START MODULE, $200. looks right, took part number to computor on Rockauto site they call part EGR Vacuum Solenoid, called manufactor they call EGR TIMEOUT SWITCH or thermal time switch. am going to Pull A Part as after seaching forums nobody has had this problem ever so maybe a used one will work. Oh yeah, says this part is only to 1993 and mine is a 94! must have been built in 93.
The Beat goes on!!!!:bash: att shows part, large sensor next to water hose not circled one.

that is the thermal vacuum valve or TVV its part of the EGR system
best thing to do i scavenge one from the junkyard

not the circled item the large one behind it next to water hose.

salvage yard efi sensor, installed new sensor from rock auto, truck still runs rough after warmed up. no codes until drove it hard punching it when it ran the rough, finally got a cel 14 and 25. cleared code to see if I got it again easy. No way, can not get code again, truck still not right. any thought?
