95 3.0 Antifreeze in the tailpipe.

I know this has been beaten to death here but I have to ask. Do I tear it down to the head and spend to have it checked? Or look into putting a newer 3.4? I want to put a 3.4 into a 1995 T4R. What am I looking at for a full head gasket kit and a pressure test of the head or a $500 used 3.4 with wire harness? And if I swap the motor to the 3.4 what else do I need? Oh ya its an automatic.

You should be able to get a leak down test for <$100. The amount I have seen for a full HG replace on a 3.0 at a shop is 1000-1500 plus a few hundered more if you need the heads reworked.
$500 for a 3.4 seems dirt cheap to me. On Craigs list here in ABQ NM there is a rebuilt 3.4 for sale and their price is $2850.

I plan on doing the work myself. I found a 3.4 that has been sitting in a guys garage for a few year just colecting dust. He might let it go for cheap. I hope.
