i turn the ignition and i hear a click but no crank. i gotta turn the key many times before it starts. battery gauge says power levels all good. is it the starter or something els?

i had this problem this morning and this afternoon! but i got it to start after a while! i have a '86 22re 5spd so i just need to park so that gravity is in my favor
! have you tried to tap the starter to see if you can unbind the starter? some times it works and other times it just makes you feel like better about not starting beacuse you get to hit(tap lightly) a part of your runner with a hammer:bash:! if your lucky like me me you have a 5spd and can find a slope to prark on if it doesnot start!aceseverywhere

well if you cant get to it with a hammer to give it a love tap you are going to have a helluva afternoon fighting your truck to get that starter out. if i was you i'd go to a auto parts store and get your starter bench tested that is if you are able to when its out, it might not be the starter!
their is one thing you can try i dont know how well it will work or if it works but i have heard that with the colum unlocked throw the truck in drive or reverse and rock the truck back and fourth and it might encourage the starter to wake up and work! this might be a rumor so i dont know if this works at all!
oh, when you start pulling the starter pull the battery so you dont have a schocking experience!
