97 Transmission fit in 02?

Hey guys I'm wondering if an automatic transmission from a 97 will work with a 02 4Runner? Thanks

I thought they changed electronics in 99. You will need to verify the connectors are the same between the two.

Not only are the connectors much different, if you have 4wd and it is the multi-mode you will have to swap transfer cases as well.

Both trucks are 2wd so that's the same, but the connections are different? So if it has the same connections it should work fine?

In theory a AW4 out of a jeep with a bellhousing and TC swap will work too. But may need to swap tail shaft and sensors.

I know next to nothing about trans but isn't a 97's tranny run with vacuum and an 02's is 'drive by wire'? Even though, could connectors be the same? I wouldn't think so but hey....
