98' limited model with ethernet and antenna cable??

Today while cleaning my grandmothers 3ed gen limited 4Runner, I noticed an ethernet and antenna cable underneath the driver seat. I know I sound young and clueless but I know a decent amount about cars. I joined this forum because she will be giving the 4runner to me soon for a first car. I am just wondering what these are used for.

I have 98 limited as well, and I do not have ethernet or coaxle cable if thats your question. I would assume your grandmother is not the original owner and someone had audio/video equipment.

X2, those are not OEM wires, a previous owner had something installed there.

Yeah she is not, but I tried plugging in my laptop but nothing happened. What could the ethernet cable used for? I know they already have a diagnostic plug under the hood.

Maybe it was for a car phone, or a CB.

It was for a car phone, my 97 had one installed back in the day.

That's more than likely a wire for a bass remote for a amp. Most remotes use the Ethernet type of wire. All of mine have used that kind.

Ethernet and telephone jacks are different. Ethernet is ever so slightly wider, and you can't force ethernet into a telephone, it just won't fit.

As others have said, it's more than likely a telephone jack size, and either for a car phone or an amp/subwoofer. The bass control extension box for my subwoofer looks just like a telephone cable jack.

My old rockford amp had a cord like that to control bass levels. The previous owner was probably just too lazy to pull all the cords out when he sold it

Old car phone, the coax was for the antenna, the ethernet cable was the power connection.

I'm thinking it's an in-car phone. I haven't seen one in years, I remember when they were some serious ish back in the day. I miss the 90's.

Probably was uninstalled at some point.
