Ah, damn.
Yah, it really sucks! But, I guess no one was hurt and it really could have been a LOT worse.
Yah I haven't winter wheeled all that much, I really enjoy it from what I have done but there definitely is that grip issue. In my case, I thought I had enough traction coming down the bank, about 5 inches of fresh snow with dirt underneath.... but I was wrong! Glad it's only the door, another 1" rearward and the B-Pillar would have got crunched and same with the roof line.

I luckily have a front passenger door remaining from my wrecked 4Runner that I purchased in the spring. It's a limited so it's going to have holes where the limited cladding mounts to the door. BUT they can be filled easy enough and then all I need to do is find a painter. All the electronics and even the door handle is still working on the wrecked door.

Was only home for 3 days (one of which was a border run) and with the amount of crap I accumulated in 4 years, still had items to move from the old house.
DEFINITELY posting pictures when I get back to town this time - have 2 of 3 vehicles back is certainly nice! Now I have to make room in the stable...
On the plus side, got my TV mounted! Ha!

That dent couldn't have been a hair closer to being in a worse spot... wow. I was looking at the pics, initially thinking it was worse, but sure enough all the damage is concentrated on just the door.
A bummer for sure, but I'd still say you got lucky on that one.

I pulled the door apart today. Used a hammer and pounded the dent out on the door handle. It's still super dented everywhere, super ugly, and super ghetto, BUT my window rolls up all the way! The power window, locks, and mirror are all working fine so I'm gunna roll with my dented door for the rest of the winter and worry about getting my spare door painted in the mean-time. Fewf.
OH, and these showed up too!!! (...and my dog passed out. lol)

Might be a slow process due to it being winter and me not having a heated shop to make the switch, but I will start a Retrofit thread when I get started on them.

Still working on my headlights but I'm hoping to have some assembled and painted photos by the end of the weekend.
On another note, Santa showed up early! I went down to Montana and picked these goodies up yesterday!

hahaha yah, Im pretty stoked to get them painted and installed. However I will probably hold off until the spring as there is no sense hauling all that weight around for the winter as my DD. I dont wheel as much as I want to in the winter so it's kinda pointless. Plus, you can't spray paint in -20C weather! The Dirt Duster will get it's share of belly rubs come MOAB, in May!!!
I love your build! Perfect balance of daily driveability and offroad capability IMO. I'm heading down to Bellingham, WA tonight to look at this 96 SR5 and hopefully buy it. My goal is to do almost exactly what you've done to yours. The importation process is a bit of a hassle but its incredible how much cheaper the used runners are across the border.

Thanks! I wish you luck with your purchase down south. I actually have bought 8 vehicles now from the states, I was even looking at buying a 3rd gen down there but came across mine in Canada for an awesome price and it was just too easy to go grab it. I'll be buying another yota from the states when I finish school. Dirt Duster part II maybe? hahah

Here's a shot of the new face of the truck:

I guess I should mention too, that I trimmed the lower valance to make my approach angle a little better. Plus, I wont catch the corners of the plastic on rocks/branches etc. anymore. I actually really like the look of the trimmed stock bumper - it will suite my needs well until I get a custom front bumper built.
