He probably paid out $1800 on it for a trade in.

Brian, sadly KBB couldn't be more wrong on this one. KBB hasn't been accurate on 3rd gen 4Runner's in 5 years. A quick scroll through your local craigslist will prove my point. A 3rd gen 5 speed under 200k miles with no major issues will bring over $7,000.

Oh I told him strait up he wants to much for his truck to his face. His response " Well people pay good money for a clean Toyota". The bottom line is simple. He is in a very high end area of LA and has access to clean mall crawlen Toyota for the most part. He puts work into most of them to get them ready for sale. In the end I'm sure he gives little to nothing for taking in trades or at wholesale auctions around the area. In the end he makes $$$$ because most people just pay his stupid prices! I will not pay nothing near the price he wants for anything on his lot or would I let anyone on this community buy from him....

Just wondering what you think of this one:

220,000 doesn't seem like too much, but I'm not sure if I can make it up to Covina in the next couple of weeks anyway.

1999 Toyota 4 Runner 4x4 SR5 5 speed Manual

OK, so I met up with this guy's son and he showed me the runner. It is very clean for the mileage, all the vin stickers were on the body too. I'd give the paint a 9 out of 10 for it's age. The paint is even better then my truck and mine is a year newer. The driver's seat is not ripped, and the center console cover is not cracked. No shift knob. No cargo cover. The carpet is pretty good, as is the headliner. The paint on the mirrors has some pealing, but the clear hasn't oxidized. I took pictures. We drove it and the clutch works well, engages a little quick, but this is the first 3rd gen stick I drove, so I have no reference. All the gears were quiet, I had a difficult time finding reverse, but I shifted to first went back to reverse and it went in easily. The 2nd time I tried reverse it went right in. Aftermarket hitch is rusty, but the chassis didn't appear to be rusty. The battery hold down was the only rusty thing I saw. They detailed the engine which I hate, cuz it makes everything shiny, blech. If you PM me your number I can text you the pictures, or I can post them here later on.

That is good shit :grin: Thanks for checking it out so thoroughly. Did you put it in 4 hi and 4 low? Did you happen to get the VIN?

I didn't do either of those things, if you are going to do a car fax I'm sure he'll give you the vin. I didn't try 4wd, probably should have. My guess is it's never been in 4wd. The tires are worn, 15-20% left but not bald. It didn't have a noticeable pull, did sort of drift to the right, but road crown or tires, not an alignment pull.
