A/C being weird

So my A/C hasn't been blowing very cold. I added some refrigerant and the gauge said it was in the green. So I'm thinking it's something else in the system (captain obvious) because although it's a bit cooler than it has been it seems to only be blowing cool air on the passenger side vents. I'm a bit perplexed by that. I also can barely hear what sounds to me like an ineffective condenser or something... kind of like a light higher pitched wispy sound while inside the cab. I'm pretty clueless when it comes to HVAC type stuff, but not scared of it.

Any ideas? Or should I just take it to an A/C person... or both?

Is the compressor cycling? Clutch should stay engaged on the compressor for a bit then disengage (depending on ambient air temp) If it is, under the hood, on the passenger side near the firewall is the low side pressure line (should be a service fitting with an "L" on it. That should be pretty cold to the touch. That should give you a rough idea that your refrigerant level is OK without using gauges or looking at the sight glass on the drier, which you should see almost no bubbles when the compressor is engaged)
Sounds like you might have a problem with the servo unit under the dash though. Is the air blowing hard out of the appropriate vents with the corresponding dash settings? If it's not blowing hard or only reaching the passenger side as you said, which is closer to the blower motor, check the blower motor for proper flow. Might have to drop it down out of the "box" underneath the passenger side of the dash, which takes a little finagling to get out. Search the site for blower motor removal. If all that's good then there's some other stuff to look at, but start there. Good Luck!
