A/C or fan on the back?

Hi,

I have a climate controller at the back of my 4runner 1997 limited.
But seems to have only fan no AC is it normal?

Is it possible to bring the Ac in there? I live with an hot country and would be nice have a back seat ac working

That's just for heat. I suppose you could run duct work back there, but it would be a major project. I wouldn't be surprised if someone on here has done it though.

I thought the same thing with my 99, WTH do they have heat and no a/c back there????

In a jeep I had I hooked a 3 inch flex able clear rubber hose from the passenger foot well air vent and ran that under the seat into the back and that worked ok. So you could rig something up I'm sure.

My 1985 BMW 735i had A/C ducts running through the center console to rear vents just where ours are. Worked just fine.

I'd say it's more of a cost and reliability issue. Rear A/C lines often corrode and leak after time, and are generally fairly expensive. And in addition to that, these trucks are small enough to not need rear A/C in the first place. In my opinion at least.

Or Albuquerque during the summer. While waiting for the a/c to cool off the ducting I open all 4 windows to dissipate as much heat as possible. And this is with 20% tint all around and a Sun blocker on the windshield.

I could say the same thing here in Belize, but actually, after a few minutes it's plenty cool in the cab, even though it's not fridge cold. You can easily tell if it's working, just roll down the window.

OP, maybe you just need to recharge it...

Lol, why would I want to go to Cambodia? Chicago has some really hot days in the summer, sometimes triple digits with 90+% humidity, and I've never once thought my truck would benefit from rear ac. I do have 5% window tint though, which is why in my original post I said "in my opinion".

Tent your windows!
Crack the rear window a few inches/ maybe the back seat ones also if you'd like.
these two things combined will make a world of difference. (ive got it on mine)
