A/C Servo Noise

Hello,

My '04 Toyota 4Runner SR5 has an A/C servo making a weird noise that is driving me crazy. Most of the time the noise only occurs when I turn on the vehicle. The servo casing has a number 063700-8870 3430. I am not sure what this servo's job is (although I think it is the mixing air servo that allows for mix of hot and cold air). I want to make sure I don't order the wrong servo, so the question is, does anyone know what the OEM part number is for this specific servo? Can anyone confirm based on the number I list that it is in fact the mixing air servo?

I have the same issue with my 2004 sports edition! Sounds like an air compressor noise.. Hopefully someone finds the issue

Found the name of it at least..

It is called a blend door actuator.. Check those numbers on eBay

trust me this works....

remove screw on right side of glovebox and drop out of the way, using a phillips head screwdriver loosed whichever screws you can access on the servo, next snug them back down, it will stop that clicking/gurgling noise

mine was the servo at the top about even with top of glove box, near impossible to remove the bottom one seems much easier

Can be done through careful tool/hand manipulation when only removing the glove box, but is easier to do with the blower motor box completely removed.

PITA, yes. Big bucks too, going to run $200+ for the "Mode" servo(one "higher up, even with the top of the glovebox").

Obviously, make sure it is the correct servo before swapping it out and ending up with the same problem. Keep the "mode" selection stationary(manually select, keep off auto), and confirm that the noise is not produced.

how do you remove said box? I have the four bolts removed, but i cannot get it to slide to the right to remove it.

and i can't figure out how to 'release claw fitting'. i have a plastic container looking thing in front of it, and from what i can tell, i can't go up anyway, as it would interfere with the coolant lines on the firewall.

This^^^!!! It’s actually even simpler than that, if you are getting clicking behind your glove box from your ac blend door actuator servo, try this 2 minute free and tool-less fix before you take anything apart or start ordering new servos:

Just remove the glovebox and push your finger against the visible corner of the black servo to the left of the cabin air filter door. Just give it a little tap! I had my car on with the servo clicking and as I pushed on that corner the clicking stopped and suddenly switching between defrost and face and feet became smooth and quiet. It’s worth a try if you have been wanting to fix this.
