A couple vibration issues

As most know I purchased a used 2008 4runner V8 with 14700 miles on it 3-4wks ago. I've noticed a couple vibration issues since I have owned it.

1) When driving 50-55 mph at 1500-1600 rpm i get a vibration in the gas pedal and front left of the vehicle. It goes away outside of those rpms.

2) Just noticed the other day when towing my side by side to the shop when I get above 55mph I get a bad vibration, the whole rig vibrates then it slowly fades then it comes bad and slowly fades. Almost like if you were driving over rumble strips then off them then driving over them again over and over again. then it will go away for a stretch, then it comes bad and runs it course. I couldn't figure it out.

First off, every T4R I've owned (2nd, 3rd and 4th gen) have had issues with getting a proper balance solely due to the lug-centric wheels which require most shops to use an adapter before balancing it on their hub-centric based machines. But that takes time and most shops won't do it even if you ask unless you put a gun to their empty heads. So I recommend you find a shop that is willing to properly balance them. I've gone as far as insist the shop re-spin after turning the wheels about 90 degrees from the machine axis. You'd be suprised how much head scratching goes on when the wheels come up WAYYYY off after the initial goose-egg balance. And see about getting a RoadForce balance which will pick up tire and rim defects that standard spin balancers won't catch.

Once you know your balance is good and you still have vibration problems, then it's on to suspension and drive line.

Thanks for the info. I will question it at the dealer when I bring it in. They just mounted and balanced new ipike winter tires.

Any thoughts on vibration #2 when towing?
