A few Questions about my Lift/Wheels/tires

I am about ready to buy my lift wheels and tires for my 2005 SR5 4runner.

I am getting Icon Stage 6 CO Suspension, AR mojave wheels in 16x8 4.5 backspacing 0mm offset, and BFG Ats KOS

My concerns/questions are...

I read on Icons site that they recommend a 285 Tire. But I have read other places that 285 will rub and requires cutting of the fender and bodymounts??

I would like to run the biggest tire possible without having to do any MAJOR cutting or trimming. Am I stuck at a 275?

Also The AR wheels are non hubcentric so they should be a direct fit onto my SR5 without an adaptor??

Does the Icon site recommend 285s with the 4runner or the FJ? or both?

From what I've read, in most cases the body chop is necessary, if you don't rub it you may be ok but most people eventually rub there in some or most situations. You'll probably have to trim the fender a bit too (not majorly) though a body lift would help that somewhat.

The wheels should fit fine, I think you may be able to find a hub centric adapter but I'm not certain.

It recommends 285s for both

Recommended tire size 285/75R16, wheel 16X8 with 5" back spacing.

Why would they recommend a tire that will rub and require cutting...

Also why would I need hub centric adaptors if the factory toyota wheels are lugcentric.

Factory Toyota wheels are hubcentric, not lugcentric. Some 285's will clear the body mount, most of the more aggressive ones won't though. The BFG's have a very square profile, I'd say they'll most likely rub the body mount.

Those AR wheels are NOT hubcentric so would I have to find an adaptor to make them work?

Chopping the body mounts isn't that big of a job.. As long as you go back and weld a end plate no one will know. I'll have to go back a chop mine when I get ready to wheel my truck. I thought I would try to keep away from cutting, but really a drimmel tool and some time you can make it pretty clean. Just my .02
