It's been a while since I've done any wrenching on the truck. I replaced the lower control arms a few months back to freshen up the lower ball joints and the LCA bushings. I started a new job at Atlas Copco, which is a 50 mile one way trip for me so I had to get a commuter car.. Did some looking around and picked up a 2009 Acura TSX.
Can't say I have any complaints about this ride, good gas mileage and comfy seats. I was sad to be away from Toyota though. As well the Camry's and Corolla's didn't quite do it for me. Fortunately though, I stumbled on to a new love.. Just had to buy some time before I could purchase.
So December 2014 brings a new IS 350 f-sport into my life and I have to say it's been a badass ride! Took it over to Superman3043's place this weekend to give it a good wax job. Also did some grinder work on his Body mounts to add some tire clearance.
Stay tuned... I'm starting to look around for plasma cutters for the 4runner :lasercannon:

Congrats on the new wheels, that thing is mean looking and sexy! I have ordered over 20 or so 2013 ES350's and all of them have been great vehicles. You guys should of gave me a buzz since you where near the house over the weekend.
Let me know when you get some welding gear again.

Yeah that's clean brotha! Very nice, the more i mod the 4Runner and the more i see my gas mileage plummeting i see this in my future! Well i can only hope it will be as nice as the isF :hatsoff:

Well like PD would say I was "wheeling like Bobby wheels", lol. No spotter and trying to get a little high or close to the wall to go around a big rock when my tire slipped down and Wack :wow2: right on my skid. It's the ATO front/mid one made of 3/16"s. Put a bend right in-between or below the passenger side LCA. I'll have some pic's up soon. Anyway, worse part was it was on the rocky obstacle off wolfs den.
I would love to reinforce the skids similar to what we did with the T-case skid.
I'll be cutting the rear cross member off pretty soon. Maybe for Christmas. I might need a hand or two to assist :vader:

just spend the afternoon reading through your build and i gotta say, nice work! i have been starting to cruse the 4th gen section recently as i just bought a GX a couple months ago and am going to start slowly modding it. i am interested in your take on the radflos and the 650 coils... any issues ect? keep up the good work man!

I've sort of put the 4runner on the back burner lately. I've spent the past few months just trying to settle into another daily driver. I picked up the Lexus and never really felt at home with it. really questioned space for hauling kids, that me an the wife have been talking about getting started with. Knowing I have needs for a truck and loved having my old dodge around to tow with etc. I got back into a diesel truck. These things are sick! more charging ports than I have iphones or ipads for, A/c outlet for camping accessories when drive in camping. 765 ft/lb's of torque ain't bad either! I can take my 4runner anywhere now. So to go along with the truck I got me an 18' 5 ton, fender trailer from Hudson bros!
Took the 4runner out wheeling this past weekend on a camping trip with the wife and some friends. Didn't manage to get many pics without boddy and lisa there :noidea: Lost the driver side tail light... again... (3rd time) to another tree lol! In other news I have two passenger side spare depo black bezel tail lights. If anyone needs one..
Thanks, I've injoyed the radflos and 650 coils really well. They definitely soak up the harsh bouncing from the boulders Uhwaries trails offer so much of. It's a toss up. I think I would be happy with the 700lb coils as well. . Sorry to get back to this so late I haven't really kept up with this thread in a while.

Dang Aussie! What rock or tree did it this time ?
Wish we would have made it out too but family from Florida came up for the weekend. We spent the entire day and night at carowinds. Freaking had a blast on the fury yo! Hopefully it will cool down soon and we can hit the trails.

Operation restore is looking to be in full effect!
Problem list
fixed- no power steering (to many donuts in the snow/ice)
(Manual tcase installed w/ twin sticks)- Center Diff Lock inoperable. (needs actuator, probably due to mud :yell
(Used pan ordered)- Oil pans leaking ( pretty sure my IFS housing hit it when i busted that mount on dickey bell)
- Air pressure supply to lockers to high (blowing oil through seals)
- bald front tires
(on waiting list (8/8/16))- needs dash replacement from toyota
(Manual tcase ordered w/ twin sticks)- Transfercase is leaking (because of the stupid actuator :yell
Air freshener bombed, fixed- Interior reaks of cigarettes (quit smoking September 2014!)
- lumbar support motor on driver seat has failed
- seat cushion on driver seat has failed
- CB radio velcro mount has failed (lmao)
- Internal snorkel age limit reached (dern thing is loud as hell now!)

planning to source a T-case w/ actuator through a pull a part location. Seeing prices at 600-750. I'm interested in manual t-case options though. Wouldn't mind just having 2wd at times in the V8. Problem is I'm unsure of what Christmas tree light effects this might have on the Gauge cluster. Anyone have any input on aftermarket T-cases? I've seen a couple here an there, modded on the 4th gens but finding detailed info on the them is nearly impossible.

Well from what I can gather, switching to a manual t-case in the v8 is actually simple.. Go figure, for once having the V8 is a plus..
so if you have a V6 you have the front axle with The ADD, disconnects the front axle and then has the TC computer lock the center diff to allow 2wd. If you swapped to a manual t-case in this situation you would have to install a switch that would allow you to manually activate the ADD. forcing you to come to a stop to switch into 4wd. (the ECU clocks the rpm of everything allowing this shift on the fly with the electronic t-cases)
With the V8 having the awd setup, adding the manual t-case just takes away the all wheel drive torsen ability. You either get 2wd (100% rear) or 4wd (50% front/rear) . I've seen some negetive takes on this with driving in ice or snow. But come on..
Soooooo
That leaves me with two choices.
Good ol Marlin/inchworm "lefty"
or the Tried and true, awesome yet expensive Atlas
Pricing a brand new t-case from toyota with actuator installed is roughly $2k
lefty with adaptor plate ready to bolt on roughly $2500
Atlas with adaptor plates plus fab work: $3500+
Doing some more research before I drop the hammer but I'm leaning on the lefty, as its pretty much bolt on ready. The atlas would require some cross member fab and an extra thousand bucks. but hey WWAD right!?!?
Either way this lines me up perfectly for SAS down the road :banana::banana:
