A little info about Gobi Racks...

Well, you always get negative rant posts, so I thought I'd post a positive one for a change.

I recently went through the whole "which rack should I get: Baja, Gobi, ARB" ... and everyone raved about them all, but one really stuck out: the Gobi. Everyone who has it raves about it, and for my purposes it far out-features the other brands.

However, I did read a couple of posts that said despite how good their product was, and how good their service was once you got a hold of them, getting a hold of them could be a rather difficult thing to do! So, naturally, that was a little worrying going in because I was hoping to get a couple of special things done but I figured, what the hey, I'm in no rush if it takes a while to get a reply from them - I'd rather have the best rack possible.


Let me just tell you, those guys have been nothing short of amazing. Not only did they help me with a couple of special requests on my rack, but I have yet to have a call or email that hasn't been either answered immediately or replied back to within a couple of hours ( and believe me, this has been no small task - I've been in communication at least 6-8 times regarding my "ideas" :naughty: ). I'm pretty sure I'm on a first name basis now with them by now.

So, in short, I just wanted to relay what a wonderful experience it has been to work with Sandra and Paul and I could not recommend them more. Given the choice again, I can confidently say you absolutely could not do any better. All of my trucks will have Gobis from here on out. :bravo:

It is really refreshing when you get that kind of service and work with people that understand why we are so fanatical about what we want a product to be/do.

It is also nice to be a forum member and get good advice on which vendors are most likely to provide that experience!

Haha I know, i know! I'm told I'm 3-4 weeks away from having my rack. This was less of a product review (I believe the dozens they've already gotten speak for themselves) and more of a service review. It absolutely couldn't have been any better, and I'm positive the rack will trump even that.

For what it's worth, I'm getting the Ranger for the 5th Gen (I believe I'm only the second one on the board to opt for the Ranger over the Stealth - and positive the first like mine).

I'm getting the cutout for the sunroof and the 2 cross bars (to attach my yakima kayak rack to) with 4 forward light tabs and 2 reward light tabs- note that this is the "standard" configuration. However, they're adding two additional light tabs for me, roughly in the middle of the 4Runner side facing. I do a lot of camping and being able to light my campsite from the side of the vehicle is indispensable to me as most of the sites I go to don't provide enough room to set up the tent in front of or behind the T4R.

Glad to hear your experience with Gobi has been positive!

GOBI is fairly close to me, so I decided to stop by one day, and YES, I was impressed with everything there.
I dont have the cash for a GOBI, but when I do, thats the rack Im getting :lookout:
