It's easy to see what happened to Pirate4x4. Once the trolls really took over the forum basically died. It's still there - but it has very little traffic (far less than this forum) and the traffic it has is mostly from a few remaining members.

Don't drag me down in the mud of bashing SR5 owners. I don't care what trim level someone drives. Just commenting that all I really saw was some easy off roading and one risky water crossing.

They are all very capable models and can do 80 to 90 percent of the trails stock. It's the harder stuff most build their rigs for. Rear lockers give an edge to the rigs over atrac, rear and front lockers have an edge over just rears. As the drivers ability and experience improve so do these trucks no matter how they have been modded. An experienced off roader will do great with open diffs. An inexperience driver will do better with a locked truck and a experienced spotter will make them both achieve a higher level.

I bought an SR5 because it works just fine off-road, and I actually use it for work, off-road, because I work construction in the mountains where there usually aren't roads. Every single day I go through mud, gravel, water and rock, and it's just fine. No, I don't intentionally take my truck over rocks that are too big, puddles that are too deep, or mud that is too thick, and I've never really felt less manly for it. If that's your thing, power to you, but saying an SR5 is incapable off-road is idiotic. What you mean to say is "The SR5 is incapable of going over that giant rock I personally enjoy driving over."

I love all these SR5 owners talking about how capable stock SR5s are....then you proceed to read their signature lines that include but not limited to: Full stage suspension, UCAs, skid plates, bumpers, winches, wheels, tires etc.

Well some of us actually take our rigs on more challenging trails and enjoy it. Your point?

Wow, I ‘m a bit surprised by the hostility between some Toyota 4Runner owners. I could see some playful banter between maybe 4Runner owners and Jeep owners or any other manufacturer. But, I don’t think this type of back and forth is really warranted due to what type of 4Runner someone purchases. It’s still a Toyota 4Runner. It’s not a status symbol. Maybe someone is busting their ass just to own an SR5. Does that make them inferior to an OR, Pro or Limited owner? Absolutely not. Everyone has their own situations and their own choices for their own 4Runner. Personally, I’m only concerned with my 4Runner and don’t feel the need to judge others for what trim, mods or anything else someone chooses to do with their 4Runner. I owned a 2010 SR5 and now own a 2018 Limited. So, who knows where I stand among some of you. But, I apologize in advance for not caring whatsoever!

I can afford any 4Runner I want....and I CHOSE the SR-5 so I could build it the way I wanted with the money I saved up front. For 40K I have it just how I want it! Hell, I prefer my 83 Pick-up for just off-roading over my 06 Rubicon Unlimited or my 4Runner. When I see a 4Runner I give a thumbs up and smile no matter what ''Trim'' the damn thing is! :bigok:

I originally wanted the Trail version but my wife put it into perspective when she said, "How often are you going to use the crawl control, etc?" Plus she wanted the third row so I gave in. Saved the money on the front end and built it the way I wanted. Does everything I need it to do and it's paid for

Nice, I had one for 7 years. The only thing the Sr5 doesn't have that my FJ had is the rear locker.

Not me...I give SR5 and Limited drivers a big thumbs down! They just smile and wave back at me. They’re actually quite friendly.

Jeep guys don't get snooty about trim levels, they just love to talk shit and hate on any new model that comes out. The JK has finally been accepted as a "real Jeep" now that the JL is out. When the next model comes out 10 years from now, the JL will finally be accepted.

Everyone not driving a JL knows their generation of Jeep was the last "real Jeep" made.
