A "weighted" question...

I've been contemplating a suspension upgrade and would love to also add a front bumper (Demello single-hoop) in the future, but have been concerned about adding weight. As an experiment, I measured my front fender height then stood on the front bumper (165-lbs) while a friend measured the fender height. The total "sag" was 5/16" and got me wondering if my FJ coils on Bilstein 5100's would be able to handle the future additional weight of a Demello bumper and winch with synthetic line. I'm guessing 90-100 lbs for the bumper and 60 lbs for the winch. I know that it's only a static measurement, but think that the 5100's would control the motion of the added weight better than the stock XREAS shocks.

It would handle it better than stock, but I'd still prefer a stiffer coil up front to properly support the weight. There's a lot that comes into play besides static weight. However, I've heard mention of an aluminum version of their front bumper. We won't know for sure until specs are released (if it's even made) but you might be able to use the current setup with that one.

I solved my dilemma with a Toytec Ultimate lift! It has 600#/in front springs on adjustable coil-overs. Just need to get the ride height and alignment figured out.

Good choice. You can set the height now and then adjust it back up if it settles with the other bumper.

Yeah... that adjust-ability is what sold me! I ended up WAY taller than I expected so I'm trying to get my ride height sorted before I get an alignment. I was at 35-5/8" before (2" above stock with FJ coils and spacer) and am sitting at 39-1/4" right now! That's another 3-5/8" or about 5-5/8" over stock and I'm low on the adjustable collar so I'm a little confused... the coils are typically set up at about 2.5" of lift.
