Help, trying to verify the OEM part numbers for the two shift solenoids
I’m trying to confirm the part numbers for the two shift solenoids for my 2000 4Runner SR5 4WD. I’ve seen both sets of numbers below confirmed for the 2000 4Runner specifically, which is interesting. I have exhausted the posts on the forum and finally wanted to ask since I ran into an issue this week with a repair. I have previously replaced the lock up solenoid for my rig with OEM part number 35250-50030 which went great thanks to the OP and the great support. After I pulled a P0753 Shift Solenoid A electrical, I decided to replace both shift solenoids so to not have to drop the pan a third time…after countless hours of reading through the forum, looking at Toyota sites, Amazon and Rock Auto referenced in these forums, etc. it seemed the consensus was the two part numbers for the shift solenoids are:
35250-30050 (for A)
35250-30070 (for B)
The parts came in and looked identical to the two solenoids that were installed on the valve body already…the brackets that attach them are different from one another so it made sense. So after replacing them 2 days ago, I got a new shift solenoid error (P0758) for solenoid B. This turned out to be an issue with the solenoid harness (see below) so the verdict is still out if the two PNs above will still work in a 2000. I called my local Toyota parts department and the said the two shift solenoids are identical, and provided the part numbers :
85420-21090 denso
85420-21100 aisin
He said they are identical in terms of the bracket orientation, one is Denso and one is Aisin. Maybe the newer solenoids are different than the original in the picture below and just attach using different bolts on the valve body and I’m overthinking this. It’s just odd they use the same part number when they physically look so different.
I’m just looking for some help here, has anyone replaced these on a 2000 and can verify either sets of part numbers above? I’ll attach a photo from my shop showing the two solenoids I purchased and how the brackets are different. The original OEM A solenoid (in my case I tried using 35250-30050) the brackets are on each side of the solenoid in an east and west direction. The B solenoid (to the right of the A solenoid on the valve body, I purchased/tried using 35250-30070) has brackets in a north and south configuration. I’m struggling how Toyota can say they are the exact same part number when the original solenoids that are coming out are physically different in how they attach. Thanks for any help or guidance! FINAL UPDATE:
Merry Christmas! Wanted to confirm that 30050 and 30070 do in fact work for teg 2000 SR5, 4WD after all. Put in the new solenoid harness last night and went for a test drive today after sealing everything up. That’s good intel since they cost half as much as the later parts in this post. I bought two shift solenoids directly from Japan via EBay. Got 30050 and 30070 for 105 bucks shipping included. They did take two weeks to come in so if you are desperate you’ll pay more at the stealership!
