About rear sag

So, over the last two years the rear sag on my 2000 4runner 4wd has gotten noticeably worst, and its become a real eye sore. Can somebody verify that these are the correct spacers needed to lift the rear.

Also, can anybody point me to any other place that sells the rear spacers. I'm looking to do it myself, but can't seem to find any vendors other than autoanything, and i'm not too familiar with the daystar brand. TIA!
By the way, I have a completely stock suspension.

Has anyone tried to get their springs replaced recently? I'm wondering if I could get mine done. It seems like they're sagging a bit.
:thumb3:Just got off the phone with my toyota dealer and they were VERY good about it. I gave them my vin. and verified that it was an open recall on my truck. They just want me to bring it in so they can look at it, order the right parts (guess they havent done many!)...seems to be all good. NO fuss at all. Lets see what they put on. New springs? or just bumpers...

So I just looked at this thread for the first time today, saw the letter for the dealer recall on 96 to 98 springs, called a local dealer, gave them my vin #, and now my new springs are on order! Parts and labor all free. Pretty sweet. Has anyone had this done? If so, how did it change the ride, and does it lift the vehicle any? Thanks
I did not notice any change they way it rides but it did lift rear about 1/2 inch. My right rear side was about 1/2 in. lower and now it's even. Now I'll have to adjust my headlights. I'm glad I did it, new parts for free always good. Just make sure you have stock springs. There are some people who had their aftermarket springs removed and replaced with OEM and they were not happy campers.

My 00 sagged pretty bad
when i bought it. First thing i did was replaced the OE shocks with bilstein HDs which helped but then it became more evident that the rear springs had to be replaced. I swapped out the OE front and rear springs for some 99 tall springs. I like the 99 tall front springs alot. The rears however sag with as little weight on them as my bike rack so the next step is OME 906 rear springs. These combined with the 99 talls up front will result in a tiny bit of rake but i figure that will help with handling. :girl:

Sooooooo I went to my local dealership today (Toyota of Kirkland) and brought my copies of the recall and they looked it up on their computers and I found out the fix has already been done on my 4Runner. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. They replaced my recalled springs in '02 with springs that need to be recalled. Man I'm pissed. Can I argue that at all? I don't feel like I should be paying to replace my springs.

Only if they replaced the OE spring with something other then the 99 talls. You can check the color codes painted on the coils. :infidel:

Why in the world is my Runner so hard to control after putting the 1" rear spacers in!!!!!?? Im so pissed because it looks great now, but even after 2 alignments after the mod from the dealer its got these characteristics:
1.Statically unstable(wants to wander with the grade of the road)
2.Force to turn went up
3.Grinds the front wheels in a slow turn. (it will skip if the outside wheel hits gravel).
4. Rougher ride around corners. (this actually makes sense I think because the lift changes the lateral moment in the back)
What the F!!? It would actually be nice if I found out that something is loose up there, but how did it instantly go from a really descent great driving vehicle to THIS!!!?
Stock otherwise, btw.

1" rear spacers on stock springs wouldn't cause any of that. Who did the work? Most of what you're describing sounds more like having 4H (locked) engaged

new to the site but had my runner for just about a year already. Will call dealership tomorrow to see if I can get this recall done or if it hasnt been done yet. I am the 2nd owner and the lady before me had all paperwork of records but nothing with this recall on it. So hopefully I can get it done for the new year!

Bad results with dealer replacement
Hi, I am new to the site and using forums so forgive me if I am doing this wrong. In preperation for a road trip to Baja I spent a lot of time treading this thread. I got replacement springs from my dealer for my '96 no problem. This was a week or two before the trip. I also added new rancho shocks and an airlift ride leveling system. (airbags that go in the rear springs.) I towed a very light tent trailer into baja and had terrible results. On the first big bump that I went over the springs failed. They did not crack, or break, they just lost 90% of thier springaction. The rear stops were about 1" over the axel wheter the trailer was attached or not. Any bump in the road caused a painful hit to the rear end. I took me the better part of a day to find a mexican auto parts dealer in La Paz that could order replacements. That took 5 days. I continued my trip while waiting for the parts. In the mean time I fried a wheel bearing L/R due to the bad spring. Long story, long, I got the after market MOOG springs and fixed the whell bearing and am back rolling. Lesson Learned: If you do any rough road driving (not even off road) do not expect the dealer spring too hold up.
