about to purchase avic d3 need, have question about trim kit

sory, didn't take a pic...the kit from Metra is shaped exactly like the trim around the stock radio...the problem is that the trim around the stock radio is actually part of the console...except it's painted black and the console is painted silver....there's no way you could actually cut it off without screwing up the console. I guess the 2-piece kit might be the only way to go at this point....then replace it when Metra makes a kit to fit our opening.
Where did you buy the wiring harness ? Do you have a part number ? Are there wiring instructions with the harness ?
I'm gonna do the install myself...i already took out the stock radio and inserted the AVIC...there's only a minimal gap above and below the AVIC...looks ok, so i guess the 2-piece trim will be ok for now.

The wiring harness that I used also came from Metra (No. 80-1761). It says that it is for "87 and up" Toyotas. I am not sure that the dimmer is working 100% correctly (it will dim when the head lights are turned on, but will not adjust with the vehicle dimmer), but all else works great with this adapter. I picked it up at Circuit City.

I was in a Target parking lot tonite and saw a 4Runner Limited...looks like it had the JBL stereo...this stereo is bigger than our stock radio but looks similar and it covers the entire opening...our radio is smaller and that's probably why they moulded the trim to the console...the rest of the console is exactly the same. Perhaps one of you guys would like to try and remove the "moulded" trim 
Picked up the wiring harness and IPod cable...will start the wiring install next week...once that's done, i'll decide what to do about the trim.

Twisting them together with electrical tape will almost guarantee a poor connection and you'll most likely have to reconnect the wires again.
The best option would be solder the wires together and then use heat shrink tubing (preferred), if not then tape the soldering with electrical tape.
A less preferred method typically used because it's fast and easy, would be using butt or crimp connectors. Using this method, you will still have a solid connection over twisting the wires together.
