I can see that. I guess they have to be really specific on their tolerances because the differences on the resistance from. The right and left front was .001. Dang, I guess being cheap and wanting to do it myself didn't work out :/
 
So just had this happen today & after I stressed to the guy watch about stretching the f-n abs wire . Right side sensor ,my question is replace sensor does it come with connector & wire ? Or just replace wire ? Will I then have to do ZPC or just drive around for a few mi .? I'm so pissed f-n told this guy , we did the 05 & no probs same process & BAM . Flame if you must but just some info . PLEASE !!! I have searched some older threads about replacing the wire but not mickey mouse style with oem .
 
Sensor and wire are separate part numbers. More than likely it's the wire, so I'd start there. Pretty easy to diy. I replaced my passenger side one outside in the dark with only a headlamp for lighting.

Yup, I drove with the bad one for a couple weeks. Just need to remember you won't have 4wd, VSC, TRC, or ABS.

I would not blame the guy for the wire. I was super careful and mine still went bad. IMHO, it is a flaw from the factory on the 5th gens. They crush the wire in the bracket (on the passenger side). If you touch the bracket... the wire is toast. There is no reason to crush it like that. Again, just my opinion from having it happen to me.

And new wire comes ready to go. Plug and play...
 
Plug on each end and the wire even has the plastic clips in the right places to attach it to the mounts. Unplugging the old wire is the toughest part if any dirt has built up in the old one at the wheel sensor. Use a slotted screwdriver to push the tab down and just keep wiggling the plug until it comes off so you don't damage the sensor.

By the by really like the 51s up front have them set on 1.75 & it's dead level , eyeball test . Was so mad about sensor wire that I forgot I had them done .
 
Am I the only one who gets irked by these "the light is on" threads and no one makes an effort to see what the DTCs are? I mean I understand not everyone has even a cheapy Chinese TIS or that their autoparts stores don't often have ABS capable scantools. But its like I'm supposed to magically know what's wrong with the vehicle based on the only fact that the light is on...

Here, short out TC & CG on your DLC3 connector with a paper clip and turn the Key On, Engine Off:

  • When the system is normal, the ABS warning light and slip indicator light blink at 0.25 seconds intervals (0.25 seconds on and 0.25 seconds off).
  • When only 1 DTC is stored, the light outputs the same code after an interval of 4 seconds. Example: When DTC 21 is stored, the light blinks twice, turns off for 1.5 seconds, blinks once, turns off for 4 seconds, and then repeats this output pattern.
  • When 2 or more DTCs are stored, the light outputs the codes with an interval of 2.5 seconds between each different code, and the output of all codes repeats after an interval of 4 seconds.
  • If no code is output, inspect the TC and CG terminal circuit and the ABS warning light and slip indicator light circuits.

I know I'm a bit late to the part on this, but after you record what the 2 digit DTCs are, let us know or Google them so we can find out Exactly what the issue is (and most likely which wire or wires might be the issue.)

Sorry if I came across angry at you, its more of a general frustration with how often this happens on the forum in general and it just gets hard when you see a thread like this go 5+ pages and the OP hasn't bothered to even check DTCs (again not directed to you personally, just something I see too often in general.)

No worries BWinc, my guy had told me & I childishly whined about lights & stuff but will get it for you manana ! He had told me it was right side speed sensor wire not the sensor itself .

Hey guys, I know this is an old thread but did anyone happen to take any pics of this harness, or have the part number for the wire harness? My dealer told me I had a faulty ABS harness but wanted a small fortune to replace it. Was hoping I could google it and find the how-to but haven't turned up much luck.

Anything you can offer would be greatly appreciated.

I've found several part numbers that look the same but can't get confirmation as to whether they are all the same:

I could be wrong, but I don’t believe all the abs harnesses are the same. When I bought one for my driver front a few months ago, it was labeled as such. And I believe the passenger side was a different part number. Do you happen to know which side is out?
 
I just ordered a right side, part #89516-60260 harness from McGeorge Toyota Online Parts out of Richmond VA. $56 shipped to Las Vegas via priority mail. I damaged it while installing lift of course. I verified which one was bad by disconnecting ABS wires in teh engine bay and continuity checking through the sensor. Left side about .3 Megohms, right side was open.

This should fix it, but I guess I'll find out for sure when I get the new harness installed.

I just noticed the part number I ordered is different than the one called out by [MENTION=53115]chuntmd[/MENTION]. I believe the ones he identifies are for 2003-2009 model Toyota/Lexus, but once again I'll find out when I get it in this weekend. By with the exception of some tight spaces to get your hands into, very easy replacement.
