AC compressor pulley wobbles. Should I just cut the belt until i can fix it?

So the ac compressor has always made some strange noises when the AC was turned on, but it works, and I don’t have the money for a total compressor replacement, so I just left it, and if the sound got annoying, i just turned off the ac and it went away. (it began as a loose knocking sound, comes and goes while the ac is on, but now it squeaks sometimes even when the ac is off. Sometimes turning it on and off a few times makes it quieter)

anyways, i went to go replace the idler pulley because i noticed it wasn’t spinning at all, and realized the compressor pulley is pretty wobbly (duh i guess)

Is the compressor pulley/clutch easily replaceable or does the entire compressor need to be replaced? I’ve heard something about “re-shimming” the pulley?

for now, i’m either gonna just cut the belt and deal without ac for a while, or put it back together with the new idler pulley and see if it helps the sound...

on the 6cyl you can run without the ac belt. thats all it runs.

If the pulley is wobbling then it's most likely worn the compressor snout that it rides on which means a compressor replacement.
