Ac fan not working

The ac in my 94 works great as long as we're moving but if I come to a standstill in traffic the engine gets hot and the ac blows got. The fan in front of the radiator doesn't turn on. Could anyone let me know where the fuse and relay are for the fan are as I'm hoping that is the problem and not that the fan motor is blown

You might be able to run the fan off the battery directly to test it. The tricky part is coming up with some jumpers to connect the battery to the fan.

I'm pretty sure on most cars the AC fan runs constantly when the AC is turned on. You could pull the connector to the fan and test for power at the connection.

If the truck is getting hot in traffic, your rad is on the way out. Having said that, turn the a/c on and see if the circuit to the fan gets power with a voltmeter. If the fan is tough to turn, it's probably seized. They should turn very easily.

The AC will shut off at low rpm's. What happens if you stick in neutral and increase the RPMS?

R12 or 134A? If it is 134A, could just be as simple as a recharge.

I completely disagree with you. The a/c fan is on a switch(temp, circuit related). It( the external electric fan) is there as a back up. There is a reason why Toyota upgraded the rads on these trucks. After multiple years, many basics(rads, fan clutch, coolant switches, etc) have been over looked and neglected.
We've sat in traffic for over an hour(in 100 degree heat) with the a/c on, and our 1990 never cracks over 1/2 way on the temp gauge. The a/c fan only kicked on later in the trip.

are you sure?
MANY vehicles are wired so when the AC is on, the fan is on. thats the reason the fan is there, the ac adds more heat than the engine fan was designed to handle.

if the fan isnt working, or isnt working correctly, and the ac is on, its GOING to get hot. whether the radiator is good or not.
