Hey guys was wondering if anyone has ice cold ac. I've read the 3rd gens are not known for great ac, had mine checked in spring. It was pressure tested and recharged . No leaks to be found. Anyway sometimes it doesn't seem that cold. Yesterday was pretty hot here in NJ and I felt the ac wasnt blowing cold. I did check it with temp gun and it's right in the low 40s. Can anyone chime in?

Im in AZ and mine is as cold as r134 can do. Cools the vehicle down pretty quick. We don't really have to deal with humidity so Im not sure if that could be a factor.
When we first got it it didn't work at all, just re-pressurized system and it has worked like a charm for the most part.
Had the blower fail (my fault trying to clean it) - got a cheap replacement from Amazon which is way more powerful than the one it replaced (which was factory BTW).
AC Belt had a catastrophic failure- fixed that.
If its blowing in the low 40s thats about right I believe. Are you recirculating air or venting air?

Low 40's is amazing, its working perfect. If your car it super hot it will just take a little bit. turn on recycle for max cooling.
Also when you first get in, roll down all you windows and let all that heat get out.

Low to mid 40s is typical for me as well when driving. Doesn't really matter what the outside air temp is, it stays the same whether it's 100 or 70. A/C always blows out around 43 or so...unless the truck isn't moving of course.

Mine works like a charm, nice and cold in 100*+ heat.
I have the analog controls though since mine is a 98. Maybe there's a difference between that and the digital ones?

Wow. The exit temp is affected hugely by both humidity and ambient temp. To compare exit temps for the same truck between some guy in Arizona and another in NJ without stating these parameters specifically is really sort of silly. The attached chart gives pretty much the best an R-134a system can do at various temps and humidities, as well as the theoretical low and high side pressures.
My truck, with all original A/C, but periodic R-134a injections performs to this chart in this humid NJ summer. She cools just fine.
All that said, 40's sounds pretty good. At 80°F and 80% humidity (typical NJ summer day this year), nominal exit temp with R-134a is 57°F.

Low 40s is really good vent temp. Keep in mind it takes a little while for the AC to get cold. Air temp and humidity have a direct effect on how well an AC system performs. Im with AZBud and live in Arizona with temos around 110 and high humididty from the summer monssons ans my AC in my 3rd gen blows nice and cold at 40-38 degrees.

You guys are lucky to even have working AC, lol. I'm just happy the T4R has more windows that roll down than average, lol.
Besides, I kinda like riding around on hot sunny days with all the windows down.
It just really sucks when it's hot and raining. That's about the only time I wish I had AC.
Then again, the T4R isn't my daily driver. The AC in our Matrix works perfectly fine.

Putting all the windows + sunroof and rear window down almost feels like a 1st gen with the top off. Almost.
Hey guys thanks for replies. Car is silver with tan interior and tint. Heat works good. I think the other day it was jus one of those hot humid days . I went to work that night when sun was going down and the ac felt fine . This morning coming home from work I had to lower it because it was too cold. So I guess it's good .
