acceleration noise

when i am accelerating, I find that the 4Runner is loud on the engine. is it just normal? like noise from the transmission and engine i find it hard to accelerate when i press down the accelerator. it goes fast when i press it hard. could it be the gas or loss of power? please advise. thanks

Posting some more info on the truck might help. Year/engine/maint history, all those can help out. Also, are you describing your problem as lack of power, or noise.....both, or what?

Are we talking about an older 4runner, or a new one? What year is it?

If it's the 1GRFE which I suspect that is what you have, then it's been covered before in past threads. It's more of a ticking noise and it's more pronounced when near a wall or jersey barrier. It's normal. Do a search, there are lots of threads about it.
