Accident, towing company tried to steal my friends V8 4r

This is coworkers excellent (WAS) condition v8 4th gen 2008, 160k miles. Posting here because of similarities of the 5th and 4th. Anyways, he had an accident and the tow company tried to con him and say it was totaled. I told him it was far from it. The accident was his fault and he did not have full coverage. the tow company literally told him that "its totaled, just pay the tow bill and we will get rid of it for you".
I looked at it this morning, and besides the cosmetic issues, It appears to look not to bad. Maybe just the LCA, UCA and knuckle hub thingy??? The fact that the wheel is wonky, but the tire is pressed in to the UCA joint lead me to believe its just suspension components. IF it was wonky and not pressed into the UCA, then that would indicate the frame given way. Thoughts please, I told him to take it to body shop, am i on the right track?

I would either have it towed home where I could do an inspection, or to a shop I trust for their/my inspection. It looks fixable to me and is as long as frame not tweaked.

Don't let the tow company scam you. Even if you don't have full coverage the insurance company might be able to help with getting him a discounted shop price.

you guys have AAA? if so, use those tow credits. heck, i would start at a toyota dealer and go from there. they will be the most thorough and expensive, but hopefully it will be a comprehensive report, with full parts and labor breakdown, and go from there. dealers will usually let you keep it parked for free somewhere on the lot for a while.

Since when can a tow company declare a vehicle totaled? Bring it to a reputable shop. Yes, the cosmetic damage is going to cost a bit to repair properly, but the truck is fixable.

He got it towed from his the lot to his house. he is waiting on a body sop appointment.
