If anyone is curious what the affect add-a-leafs have on a stock 1st gen here you go! My rig is an '87 and had the typical rear end sag. I measured just to be sure it wasn't an illusion and had roughly 18" of clearance at the body seam directly behind the front fender well and only 17-1/4" at the body seam directly in front of the rear fender well. Looking underneath I could see that it was riding directly on the overload spring and had roughly 1-1/4" of travel before hitting the bump stop.
After installing the Skyjacker R5005 long leaf add-a-leaf I re-measured and now have about 18-1/4" clearance in the front and 19-1/4" in the rear.

I assume it will settle some but I am happy with how it sits now. I also took before and after pics of the rear bump stops:
HUGE improvement in ride quality getting off of those overload springs!
