Addicted's 96' 4runner using TG Tacoma SAS kit

This is Glade's new project. He found this 4runner for $3000. 96' 3.4L Auto. 203K on it. The guy thought it had a bad tranny. CEL was on, so we pulled codes and it was a cylinder 4 misfire. The rig would stutter when under load, so the seller thought it was the tranny. We swapped plugs and wires and no more issue.

Anyway, here is the build list.
TG 3" Tacoma Kit "C" with 5.29s and ARBs front and rear.
Rear 3" Tacoma kit
Dual cases (keeping the stock rear case)
37x12.5x17 Radial Trepadors

We'll be running Tacoma width axles F&R.

Rear axle will be getting cromoly shafts and a complete disc brake conversion.

Curious why no 3 link. Wasn't the black one linked front and rear?

How funny i have a "friend" that swapped transmissions on his 4runner for that exact same reason before spending less than $100 on plugs/wires and waddya know problem solved LOL.:sadwave:

3 linking one is significantly more money. The Tacomas we have built have all handled and ride excellent on the hwy and offroad. This should be no different.

Leaf springs aren't bad. And their a lot cheaper to maintain. Plus they ride just as good and are a lot more predictable than your typical 3 link setup.

Any updates? What are the differances between the Tacoma and 4runner that make this kit a "tacoma" kit as far as the front? I understand the rear suspension is leaf but not sure the major differance on the front that would not make this kit go right on a 4runner.

There's not much of a difference.. The fronts on tacomas are coil sprung as well. This kit replaces that and converts it to leafs (unless specified for CO's). Cheaper yet still effective. The frame might be a little different but with a little modification, the 1st gen Taco sas kit is the closest we'll get. It's also more common to sas a 1st gen taco than a 3rd gen 4Runner. That's why the kit is mainly for a Tacoma.

btw, I can't wait to see this together. The dirty 30s 30 spline birf kit on that rock assualt axle are gonna be badass!!
