I am the 3rd owner but it is a very clean stock Runner with nothing modified So I am guessing it is factory but could be wrong.

it is a factory option on the 2001-2002 Limited. and yes, it's on the LH sunvisor.

If you are going to do this, why not spend a few more dollars and get one of the rear view mirrors with it built in? Makes more sense then hacking up the interior and when you are done, it will look like it belongs there from the factory.

#2. Drivers side sun visor with Homelink $176. Discontinued.

#3. Adding Homelink on your own $18 and an hours work.

Hum, I bet buying the pre-installed visor from Toyota would cost your firstborn.

After I learned of its existence, I called the dealer, the part has been discontinued and none avail in the depot.

Homelink mirrors can be found on ebay for $50. It doesn't have to to be one from a Toyota and getting it to fit would not be hard but yours is not "direct fit" either.

A random Homelink mirror off of eBay will not fit the 3rd gen 4runners, the base has to be a dual screw base, not a stick on base.

Put your money where your mouth is, make one fit and look like it belongs and post your results...you can't, you won't, and that's the reason we use the home link we all have used...

I'm am sorry we are all doing it the wrong way for you, please feel free you hack up your dome light and mirror to find a better way and prove us all to be morans.

3rd gen 4runners rear view mirror bolts to the dome light bracket and then the dome light cover clips over it to cover up the exposed frame (at least the two I have owned do 1998-2000)So if you just pull the rear view mirror off and stick one to your windshield you would have a big ugly hole in your dome light housing and wires running down the windshield a couple inches to the rear view mirror.

The way we are doing it is easy, cheap and looks pretty much factory. (Non 4runner guys would not know it's added)

I am sorry I came across so short with you, if you are not interested in doing this mod, why bother picking at it?

If you have a garage door BTW...this <$20 mod is well worth it.

My 1999 uses a stick on and is wired with auto dim and compass. No ugly wires seen and no ugly hole.
