Aftermarket hood

Hi all, I was in a small accident and i need to replace the front end. The dealer wants 1100 for a replacement hood! I found one online at discountbodyparts.com for a fraction of the price. Says its an oe replacement. Im just hesitant about fitamint with an aftermarket hood. Any feedback? Already ordered a shrockworks front bumper, should be getting it at the end of the month!!

I wouldn't go with any aftermarket parts, especially a hood. The lines will never match up like an original hood. My hood got a hole in it from thieves (disconnecting the battery), and I didn't even think of getting a aftermarket hood (maybe I'm too picky). Either way, it's just not the same fit. I know it costs more for OEM, but it's worth it.

I found my replacement at a salvage yard in cali for $350, paid another $350 for paint, and it fits like a glove. That's what I would do if I were you. The dealership hood comes primered, so you have to get it painted anyway. Plus, the hood I bought is a sport hood. The SR5/Limited hood is cheaper (and much easier to find) since it doesn't have the scoop (It took me 2 months to find a sport hood).

Aftermarket body parts are a crap shoot. Some are fine..some aren't. A hood that doesn't fit properly is going to be very noticeable.

You should look into refurbished oem parts. My truck was backed into and my friend got refub bumper for half the price.

What about capa certified hoods?? Looking into s recycled parts now

I went with an aftermarket front bumper to save some costs on my end. You cannot tell the difference between the oem front bumper and the aftermarket.

THIS! I got myself into a little pickle and needed a new fender. As long as its a CAPA certified part then it will fit like a glove. My fender is now a CAPA approved and you can't tell the difference. OEM is best but if you want to save a few bucks then a CAPA cert. will be just fine.

CAPA cert. parts is what body shops use when it's an insurance claim. Insurance companys don't like to put new OEM parts on a used car becuase essentially it's not a fair trade. So they use CAPA because their cheaper and fit as well as OEM.
