that's why I am going to look at the wiring diagrams on the t4r - in case I have to built an adapter..Of all the controls on the SW - the BT are the most important for me

wife is only 5' tall and I can't stand watching her lean over while driving to use the BT controls on a head unit....would drive me nuts..

I have a Pioneer AVIC-Z110 with bluetooth controls. The Metra ASWC works with the audio steering wheel controls as well as the blutooth controls.

The bluetooth controls did not work by default... I had to manually program the ASWC to send the proper blue tooth commands.

Manual configuration is in the installation instructions. It was a little tedious, but it only took about 5-10 minutes.

Installation only took 2 1/2 beers...I am impressed with the quality of the Metra kit. The only thing I am not thrilled about is the fit of the trim ring that comes with it. You can see it is somewhat "bowed" and it isnt flush in some areas. Overall, it was a pretty simple install. The only problem I had was that my new Clarion touch screen's...touch screen didnt work!!!!!!!!! Minor setback. The place I bought it from was out of them so they lent me this older unit. The dash is probably one of the simplest I have ever taken apart...and I used to do auto body. I think I might paint it flat black before my new unit arrives.

Kevin, thanks for the pic. Looks good but I see why you might not be happy with the trim piece. It appears it may be a bit too big causing the bowing. Have you given the feedback to Metra? Could it be an install issue? My guess is not and that it's a tolerance issue for Metra.

Beside the steering wheel controls, does the aux under the ac control and the usb port still work with the aftermarket hu's?

I have not given any feedback to Metra. I actually popped it out a few times just to make sure it was sitting right. When I put in my new HU (hopefully tomorrow after work if it comes in) I am going to see what I can do to make it fit better. If I come up with any mods or advice, I will definitely post it.

As far as I know they don't work. I believe it is a separate harness. Typically, the T4R's use 2 separate aftermarket adapters which you purchase as one. On the 5th gen there is a 3rd harness that I would assume is just for the Aux and USB. My new HU has these connections anyway so it doesn't matter to me. I am going to use a USB patch cable so I can run it to the port in the glove box. If anyone knows anything else, please correct me.

I'm thinking that could be a good location to mount my switches for the lights I want to add.

did you see the pic on page one?? There seems to be a little space between the dash and the trim. It all depends on the switches you use.

It is somewhat open. There is some useless plastic in the dash that has some voids. It could probably be modified to fit various things rather easily. I will snap some photos when I swap the HU out again.

Here is what it looks like...the 6 small rectangular holes (3 on each side) are for the dash clips.

Here is the somewhat final outcome...the use of the Metra "brackets" is essential to the flush fit. However, these are just plastic pieces that clip to the dash kit and screw to the HU. I dont like this because all it takes to remove the unit is pull out some plastic...no bolts!!! The further out the unit sits, the better my trim piece looked, but you can tell from the photo that the piece is not true. I used a heat gun to warm it up and it shaped it a little better (the pic of the trim is before I heated it). This weekend, I plan to try and incorporate the factory brackets by using some washers or bushings for a little security.

picked up my dash kit today. going to paint it flat black at some point in the next couple weeks (to complete the Silver-to-Black Conversion of the center dash) and then will have it installed by the shop.

Hey Doodman - You said you noticed a significant improvement in the sound of your speakers after you installed the deck, right? Wondering how you are liking the deck and how the nav and other features are working out for ya? Any thing you love or don't like about the unit? Thanks for your input!
