Aiden James Customs - Anyone heard from them lately?

I ordered some HID’s from him so I guess I’ll see how long it is

I ordered the LED/DRL's and a set of interior LED's in late Oct of 2017 and it's been over 150 days with multiple emails unanswered and promised deadlines blown when and if he decides to respond. I filed a paypal claim and he finally responded offering the same excuses found elsewhere in this thread and promised that my completed order would be shipped out today at the latest. Oddly enough he sent me tracking info via USPS last week Tue and it apparently expired and another shipping label was created and sent last Friday. I just checked the tracking info and the items still haven't made it to the post office according to the tracking info he provided.

This type of business practice is unacceptable and hopefully word spreads about Aiden James shady business practices. Buyer Beware!

i've seen his prices. i dont understand why some of you would pay so much for the same thing they sell on ebay/amazon?

led interior lights for $80? and you'll actually pay that?

i'm in the wrong business.

I only made the purchase because of the LED DRL/Blinker switchbacks that I still admit look pretty cool. If my lights aren't in the mail, I'll let my CC work on recouping my money and pick up some of the more affordable linked interior lights posted earlier.

Well the DRL / LED lights arrived today and they appear to be well built and function as described after a quick pre install test.

The bad news is he forgot to include the interior light kit I ordered at the same time as the DRL's with the shipment. I've asked for a refund on the interior lights and will source them on Amazon.

Aside from the extremely long lead times (over 120 days), incomplete shipment and gaps or lack of communication, the DRL's are exactly as advertised.

I'd advise anyone interested in these to wait until they are in stock before purchasing and it might be faster to find another source or reverse engineer something similar.

By your logic, a daewoo lanos is the same as a maybach. They're both cars, right?

Majority of the ebay/amazon cheap lights are cheap for a reason, they're garbage for the most part. You get what you pay for.

That’s why I posted my initial question as I wanted to know if people had experience with better kits.

I’ve checked out other interior kits online and they range in the same or even higher, like precision kits. I priced out those Phillips leds and they were around $13-$15 each at various places online.

I was interested in the interior kit to get everything from one place, matching in style/color, and due to the lifetime warranty.

I’ve read reviews on the cheap ones and plenty of people are needing to replace them 6+ months. I’d probably be worried about them and possible chance of fire.

i understand your concern as i feel the same way.
this wasnt directed towards you but just my general view/opinion really.
these led's are so cheap now im surprised how some people still take advantage.
as for lasting 6+ months. probably the cheapest of the cheap? i've had my amazon/ebay leds in my acura for over 5 years with no issue. and i just moved them over to the 4runner when i picked it up. it'll be a year in june with the 4r. maybe i got lucky with this set? no idea. but you cant beat <$10 for 6 years.

btw dont go phillips its really dim. i popped in the ones for the cargo area. horrible.

I picked up a set off Amazon with great reviews and reported light output that includes more bulbs than the Aiden James kit all for $25.

oh no worries at all and I didn't feel it was directed at me.

I am here to learn from people with more knowledge and personal experience.

Such as you stating, "btw dont go phillips its really dim. i popped in the ones for the cargo area. horrible." This interesting as the link I posted stated the Philips COB LED's at 280 lumens, which seems to be the highest I've seen out of various leds of the same kind.

This is exactly the feedback that helps me to make better decisions and save money in the process.

I was recently sent two separate emails to rate my transaction with Aiden James Customs. I left 1 star ratings and summarized my poor shopping experience with them. Apparently this review loaded onto there web site and within a couple hours I finally received a refund for the interior lights they never shipped me with the DRL's and an apology.

While I'm a fan of the Aiden James DRL's, their lack of communication, over 120 days wait along with a couple weeks to get refunded on lights they never shipped out to me = I won't ever be a return customer.

Hello all!

I again am Scott, the owner of Aiden James Customs. Please read this as I feel you need to hear things from my side, some again as it may help you not only understand what I’ve been up against but what is changing, and for the better for my customers.

Below is an email I sent to every person who currently has an open order of my DRL bezel kits. Please note that ONLY orders with these kits are the only orders that have ever been delayed.

As explained in this thread before, I was up against having a full time job working 6 days a week most weeks, trying to manage this biz that became very overwhelming and trying to give my family the remainder of my very limited time (which consisted of having an off an on sick 1-3 year old nearly all the time).

I couldn’t keep up and I very much so regret how things took place and how it has left a bad taste in the mouths of many. It truly has given me stress and sleepless nights. I’m not a bad person nor am trying to scam anyone as I started this biz with knowledge and passion for these vehicles and wanted a way to give back to this community. I have failed many but have never left anyone without the product they ordered or without their money back, no matter how that took place.

That said, things have changed as noted below. I am no longer a Toyota tech as of last week (4/25) andam not 120% focused on improving my biz and getting the bezel kits out. I interviewed two people today as I am actively looking for help catching up and getting these bezels out. I am also taking full days to solely build these kits so I can again, catch up and get them out faster. As for communication, I now have more time that I can sit down and ensure I can answer emails daily. I have spent the past few days catching up emails and am currently caught up with every email in my inbox.

I can’t expect everyone to give me a second chance and some may not give me a first chance based on this thread. That is unfortunate and I have to live with that however, it won’t make me quit trying to be better and prove that I’m a trustworthy person and do help this community.

That’s enough story so here’s the email I mentioned above. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions or comments. And as mentioned before in my other posts, I more than likely won’t see replies to this as I don’t get the notifications. So if you have something to say to this and/or to me, please email me.

“Hello,

You are receiving this email as you currently have an open order for my custom 4Runner LED DRL Bezel Kit or you have an open order and this kit is part of the order.

First off, my family and I want to Thank You for your patience and understanding with regards to the long wait time for these kits. Many of you know these kits are built by me personally and have become extremely popular making it nearly impossible to keep up with demand.

Just so you are aware of the status of me and Aiden James Customs, what many do not know, I up until last Wednesday April 25th was a full time Toyota Master Tech and was running AJC on the side while building it up. I would build these bezel kits at 5am every morning before work and during the weekends when not working while my now 3 year old son was napping. Well, I have parted ways with the dealer I was a Toyota Tech at, and am now running AJC full time as I have grown to a point where I need to better service my customers and move to the next level. My wife is now joining me to assist with the clerical stuff and I am working on hiring then training two people to help build these kits and help in the shop.

That said, I am working diligently to catch up on these kits and am processing them in the order received. I realize that I am months behind and greatly appreciate that you have waited so patiently. I will not sacrifice quality by rushing and will continue to build and test each kit prior to shipping. Once your order is being processed and I am building your kit, you will receive an automated email with tracking info. Please allow 3-5 days for tracking to show status with USPS as they could still be in the testing phase. Once done with testing, my wife or I will personally deliver the orders for that day to our local post office.

Once again, I greatly apologize for the long lead time for these and for your patience and understanding. My family and I also greatly appreciate the support of small family business!

Thank you and take care!

Have a great day!

Scott

I think if you're really sincere.....you'd offer to refund everyone's money that has been waiting.

Then let them decide if they want to do business with you.

I certainly will refund anyone who wants it. I never stated I wouldn’t. Anyone that has asked for a refund, I without question gave it. Didn’t even hold them to the cancellation fee in the terms and conditions. Why would I assume everyone wants a refund?

Update on orders (from a customer)

Members,

I sent a reply email back to the blanket message that was sent May 2nd and asked where I'm at in line for my order. I ordered the bezels on March 4th, and as of May 8th, there are still 33 orders ahead of me.

I asked if these would be complete by my birthday (May 28th) and was told that it doesn't sound likely.

I will keep giving updates as I know more, but just know that if you ordered before March 4th, my guess is you'll get yours in the next month or two. After that, who knows.

Patience is a virtue

As I have stated, I am trying to get caught up.

Here’s the exact email I sent following his reply to my email I sent to everyone with open orders of these bezels.

Hello Jacob,

Thank you! The wife and I are working hard to make the changes needed to
improve for our customers. Unfortunately it won’t happen overnight. As for
your place on the list, you have 33 orders ahead of you. That said I
unfortunately won’t be able to get yours to you by your birthday. I am very
sorry and wish I could but currently cannot promise that.

Please feel free to check in from time to time if you want to get an
update.

Thanks again!

Scott

Have a great day!

I will state that I made a post earlier about getting my product and being a tad displeased with the level of service AJC. But I will go ahead and say I got my product I love it and he refunded a portion (40$ I believe) when I returned my unused bezels.

He has had his problems and it seems he is sorting them out. I know it would be hard to ask those that haven’t got theirs yet to continue to be patient a bit longer but his product is legit.

Very happy you like them! That’s what matters the most is people being happy with my products. No I need to continue to work to make people happy with my customer service.

That’s the new main goal! Thank you for the kind words!

As info, got 4 sets out last week. Pushing to get two out this week. Short week as it’s final prep for Overland Expo West and I leave Thursday morning as my vehicle is in the Wilco booth.

Interviewed someone last week to hire as a builder for these kits. Looks promising and will be scheduling a day to see his skills.
