Bringing this thread back to life.

I was in Death Valley and finally experienced this. Thought it was my cabin filter being dirty, so I picked up a new one. Thought it fixed it but the button still won't stay on.

Now the desert was extremely dry and I turned it on to not suck dust in, so the humidity idea isn't my problem.

Any fixes yet? BlackWorksInc help us please.

I dunno... did you try turning it on to ReCirculate and then unplugging the actuator?

I have watched my recirculate button and it stays on all the time...... the only time it turns off is when the vent selection knob is turned to floor vents or windshield defrost mode. if you dont change anything, it does not turn off on its own.

Hey Everyone,

I was wondering, does anyone else have an issue where you press the button to allow the air to circulate in our car? I turn it on, but for some reason, it turns off. Is that normal? Thanks in advance.

this is a toyota thing i think. on my 2012 tacoma, in the owners manual it will tell you that in order to make it stay closed, you have to hold it down for 3-5 seconds or longer. otherwise it will automatically reset open as soon as the cab temp equalizes to outside temp...or something like that.
i can only assume (i haven't read the 4runner manual on this) its the same on 4runners...i always hold it down 5 seconds out of habit now so i haven't really tested if its the same on the runner
