Air Intakes...KN TRD

So just got off the phone with K&N, they don't list their air intake for the 2012 4R (any edition, but mines a trail), but do list it for the 11 and 10. He informed me that i should not order it becuase "it may throw a check engine error" or somehting of that nature since it has not been verified. I understand their liability and possible reasoning for having to say this, but from what I can tell the TRD intake is the same 2010+....anyone have any insight as to if it will work just fine and they're just covering their ass or should I be going the route of the TRD?

I kinda feel bad that no ones responded. But to make this short and sweet, yes it will fit. K&N has not paid for the red tape to be cut yet. They are CYAs and they have not paid for the CARB numbers yet.

I'm positive it will fit on your t4r. Although, I would look at the AFE version as well.

It will work fine. A lot of our regular posters are tearing it up in Ouray, normally would get a faster response LOL

fast or not, the help is always appreciated... It only makes sense but I just wanted to make sure

Just ordered the KN from the Autozone that is my distributor, $300, will be here tomorrow... thanks gents

Once you get it installed, post some pictures. I am interested in the K & N as I have had one on my 3rd gen for about 5 years now and love it.

Return it and get one that has a sealed box that pulls in air from the fender, ala AFE and the TRD. The K&N one is open to the engine compartment so it will pull in hot air.

I saw that mike, but I'm a big fan of KN filters, used them for years, I didn't like the AFe, and the tRD may come later, but I'm going to fab an aluminum intake box with the KN, I'll post as I do.

i just put a drop in K@N in and removed the dual tube sound delete bull **** attached to the intake tube, also removed the carbon filter. The results are awesome better MPGs and it sounds awesome . It doesnt seem too lug at the mid RPM range as it did before.

Ill post pics later.

It was a whole 43 dollars for the drop in and my composite/metal experience let me plug the 2 holes in the intake tube.

Yes definitely post some pics. I have the drop in K & N in my 11 Runner. Don't want to put a CAI in the new one just yet.

Thanks in advance.
