Airbox mods for idiots

Getting out a drill, a drill bit, waiting for it to charge is sooo much trouble! I just threw my airbox in the backyard and waited until my dog chewed a hole in it the size I wanted. Simple!

RUFKM (are you...)! lol

So many air box experts on this forum eh? Give the guy a break- it's his truck, no need to be a hater.

Airbox/air cleaner mods have been around since, well, forever. In the 60's, hotrodders would flip the air cleaner lid upside down, creating a gap, to get more air along with that classic whooosh sound....

I have cut up the airbox on every vehicle I have owned- and I'm 42. I also-dare I say- have many, many documented and respected MODS on this forum that have been performed by others across the country (see my sig). One of the first things I did to my 2011 T4R was cut up it's airbox.

It was not well received at first- oh well. I like it, and it works great, just like every other time I've done it in other vehicles.

My point is, this is an awesome forum. The OP likes working on his 4Runner, and wanted to try something different. Why give him a hard time?

Take a trip over to Tacomaworld and see what happens when someone dares to try something new. It's like kiddie world over there, they think they have seen it all and know it all- sad.

I would hate to see this site turn into that.

Happy modding OP!

Thanks for that. I do agree with everyone that this is a pretty ghetto way of opening up the air box, but o well it works for now. My t4r has more pressing issues that need to be addressed such as all the rubber boots needing to be replaced. I won't even go into how I have it rigged up to keep debris out right now cause even I think it's bad. All Im gonna say is duct tape and zipties... :bash:
