Alaways carry ID....scary nite

I was driving home late, get pulled over in a small little hick town close to my home. The officer ( looked like a high school kid ) asks if I have anything in the truck he should be aware of. I say a gun in my center compartment. He pulls his gun orders me out of the car ( he's shaking like a leaf ) calls for sheriff back up, I get cuffed and try to explain my situation ( the young man still has his gun out and nervous as hell ) he's not listening to my situation at all as I tell him I work for USM dept.
The sheriff shows up with his gun drawn, but he's older gentleman and I'm feeling more comfortable since he's controlling the situation and listening he then uncuffs me. I tell him to look through my bag in back of the 4R , he does finds my USM jacket , my cuffs , all my gear.

It actually was my fault since I'm supposed to carry my badge and ID at all times and only had my gun , but never the less I was crapping in my pants at this young man who was shakin in his boots. I thought 1 wrong move and he's going to shoot me. They called the federal office to confirm my status , I had to get my wife out of bed to bring my badge and ID to me . ( she was not happy about that ).

I can't blame the young guy , he followed procedure and was probably the first time his gun was out of the holster....lol. I too was pretty green at pointing a gun at people ( at one point ) now it does not even phase me.

I just was a little nervous as it was going down.

dang that sucks, i had a state trooper pull a gun on me because i had 2 bb guns in a locked case in my back seat(in NC its not illegal to have bb guns)

i could have sworn he was going to shoot me, he kept saying, make one move and ill put a bullet in your head. Turns out i was set up by some other guys who didnt like me because i had dated one of their girlfriends??? and they knew the state trooper who was crooked and also knew i had those guns in my car.

turns out he writes me tickets for a bunch of bs stuff so he can arrest me and throw me in jail for a day.

now that was a scary experience.

being a "young adult"(19) i really have no respect for cops around the raleigh area in NC, the cops around here love to dick around with teens who arent doing anything wrong and they love hassling people and most of them around here are dicks.

Ya, last time I checked a concealed weapons permit was just that, a permit for me to have my gun with me and not be harassed- that is why I got one. I can't believe they handcuffed you and drew their guns at you, especially after you told them specifically what you had and where it was. I guess you're lucky they didn't throw you on the ground and beat you too!

I'm a concealed permit holder too. I've been stopped at numerous "road blocks" and not once have the local PD or State patrol even flinched when I produce the CCW permit.

Sorry your experience went bad...quickly.

Just a young copper, not cool but oh well. I also had no identification with me....that was the big problem. My badge and ID were at home on the kitchen counter....lol. Nice place for it hey.

Also we have no CCW law here in Wi. I work part time for the Fed. Govt which enables me to do it.

Ya, that might pose a bit of an issue. I didn't know that WI didn't allow concealed weapons  . I guess I'll have to remember that if I ever drive through WI with my gun to tuck it nicely behind the dash and keep my mouth shut!

Telling him was kind of a courtesy , he just freaked thats all. I work for the Fed's, PT so it is legal for me to carry at anytime and anywhere.

Wisconsin is only 1 of 7 states that does NOT have a CCW law/permit available .

As an NRA Life Member and a flaming advocate for Second Amendment rights, I am still pleasantly surprised that we have just seven states which are holdouts against allowing some sort of concealed-carry provision.

When Florida pioneered the 'shall issue' law back some twenty years ago, the pundits and gun-haters predicted a huge bloodbath because "civilians" would be armed. Of course, it was feared that everyone would take the law into their own hands.

Naturally, this was not to be the case and the opposite proved quite true. Crime - particularly violent crime - decreased in Florida and every other state that saw the light and passed their own concealed-carry legislation.

Even with so many states getting with the program, the usual caterwauling emanates from the typical suspects every time a new state seeks to come into the light.

I am confident that Wisconsin will eventually see through the cheese and pass a 'shall issue' law of some type.

HR-218 (signed by Bush last year) already pre-empts state & local prohibitions for sworn law officers to carry concealed nationwide, so your badge and credentials will suffice. HR-218 essentially puts more trained, armed and honest folks on the streets without costing any additional tax dollars.
:awais:

As for those of us civlians who possess carry permits in our home states, we have to rely on sketchy information about which states reciprocate or honor permits from other states. The best source for this is http://www.packing.org -- or perhaps you can contact your state police or highway patrol for additional information.

I think the holdout states are probably IL, WI, NY, NJ, CA, MA and possibly CT. DC doesn't have a provision for anyone to carry concealed (except for criminals, perhaps) - and their crime statistics show it.

P.S. There greatest thing about "concealed carry" is that it puts the bad guys on defense because they have to guess which of their intended victims might be able to fight back.

Great point! I am not an NRA member or advocate but I do believe people should have the right to carry guns to protect themselves- especially when the US has the highest crime rate of any first world industrialized nation. I guess I come from a different point of view as well being raised in Washington state where you still find people driving with rifles on racks in their trucks. I, for one, carry two "weapons" in my car; 1) a 21" collapsable batton and 2) a Sig P229 Tactical. I also now live in Las Vegas which is a god aweful hell hole with rampant crime.

Our idiot Democrat Gov. (Jim Doyle) was just re-elected for a 2nd term , he is a major gun hater , and everytime it comes up for a pass he VETO's.......everytime !!!

This guy is such a crooked politician I don't know how he got elected. Well I guess I do , he passed a ( no ID needed to vote bill) so the democrats go out in droves in busses and pick up every illegal and homeless they can find and take them to the polls. He did the same thing when he first ran for office.

OK RANT OVER......no more political talk......

You should try being a black male at night with one of these inexperienced young buckaroos. Even when you present a badge or a CCW permit chances are you will still get the 3rd degree. I just pray that the night stick, the take down, and the kick in the side doesn't follow. I stay out of Lost Ain'tus because the LAPD has many jumpy type of officers. Just my two red cents worth.

That is another reason of many that I ALWAYS record ANY encounter with law enforcement.

I have quite a few black friends, two from the heart of LA and I can only imagine...

What do you mean by record? Are you saying that you actually have a voice recorder hidden within the vehicle. I have a friend who is thinking about outfitting his vehicle with front and rear cams for collision accident and law enforcement encounters by recording the video. The old hidden mic trick would do wonders also.

Don't get me wrong, I am not trying to set up a cop for a lawsuit or anything as I know every professional career field has its cover ups. The medical, construction, electronics, financial investment, real estate, etc.....etc... all have a few employees who will cover up or help a fellow employee cover up/alter evidence to protect their jobs and/or the company's public image. Also, you have workers in some types of jobs who are looking for attaboys from a superior or perhaps want to advance their position on the career ladder. I just do NOT want it to come at my expense as a innocent civilian in the wrong place while encountering an officer(s) with the wrong attitude.

I do it one of two ways; 1. My cell phone will record something like 4 hours of voice so I just set it to record and put it on my dash, 2. I have a digital recorder I use for meetings and dictation so I can use that as well. I have only been pulled over like 3 times in the past 5 years so its not that big of a deal for me but before that I was getting pulled over quite frequently and being harassed so that is why I started doing it. It was actually recommended I do so by my uncle who is an attorney. You should also ask the officer to state his/her name and badge number as they are required to do so, therefore it alleviates any discrepancy of who they are. I think your friend is incredibly smart for installing cameras and any other media to protect himself and his property from anyone. I am also looking into setting up cameras, mostly for rear-view sight, but now that I hear that maybe I will expand the project. Another angle would be to use the supplied microphone on an A/V headunit to record anything in the cabin. I don't know of the capability of such but I will look into it. You could most likely also set your cell phone to record and use the Bluetooth connection so the HU microphone will pick up the conversation. They will mount the microphone usually right around the driver's side visor so the sound quality should be good. You could also get a very tiny camera mounted in the cab and have it record to the HU but I'm sure that would take some time to set up and it would require storage capacity. I also record most calls to any customer service agency because when backed into a corner most people will lie or deny what they have previously stated. This actually works and I strongly urge anyone to do so. As to respond further to your statements, people set themselves up for lawsuits it is not anyone else's job to placate their behavior. And yes, I wholly agree that people cover up for others. Loyalty is a desireable quality and that is a huge factor especially in a criminal case that depends on the impartiality of an individual. Do you think that a cop is going to say, "Well yes, my pal Mr. Officer here was way out of line for beating an unarmed handcuffed individual to death." I think you and I both know that would never happen.

i keep my drivers license, CWP, insurance and registration info all in the same spot and so i can just hand it all to the officer when/if i get pulled over. i havent been pulled over since i got the CWP so i dont know how they would react, but hopefully they wouldnt pull their gun on me!!!!

YEEEESSSSSS!!!!!

The Brady Campaign is just a reincarnated version of "Handgun Control, Inc." -- part of a worthless 'hug a thug' crowd. They somehow believe that removing firearms from law-abiding citizens will reduce violent crime.

Fortunately, most Americans see through this charade.....although there are certainly plenty of non-thinking people who do not.
:bash:

As for the billboard, it was put up in response to the "Castle Doctrine," also known as the Stand Your Ground law. It codifies the fact that a peaceable citizen no longer has a duty to retreat when threatened with deadly force, and can use a lethal weapon (namely a firearm) to defend him/herself, so long as he/she is in a place where he/she is legally permitted to be.

This is an excellent law, as it will prevent a lot of innocent people from being prosecuted (persecuted?) for defending themselves from violent attack.

Keep laughing, Brady Bunch, as the NRA folks have once again outsmarted your liberal dimwittery.
