Alignment issue help. Pulling to right but alignment OK

Being a suspension and brake tech I say that was happened is that they only dealt with the toe which is the easiest adjustment and its only done with the movement of the tie rod ends. To deal with camber and caster they have to remove skid plate and adjusting eccentrics on lower control arm.

"Set the toe - Let it Go..." Unfortunately happens too much.

While I agree with what you said, if you look at the before and after readings toe is unchanged which is why I said that it looks like they did nothing.

Find a better shop who knows what their doing ?

I get my wheel alignment done by my friend who works at a shop. No one else touches it. I just don’t trust people. And you simply can’t.

Agree that you should find someone else. Especially someone who is familiar with 4runnerss or Tacomas. Also have them check your control arm bushings, if they are really worn you will never get a proper alignment

You can reach essentrics without removing skid plate.

What I thought was funny the tech said he could adjust camber more but it would change caster and tires wear faster. Caster does not affect tire wear like toe and camber. Thx tech is an idiot.

Exactly, the caster numbers on our rigs won't wear tires, Caster on big euro cars will.

Interesting. Mine has a similar issue where it pulls to the right if I let go of the steering wheel, but my steering wheel is still straight while going down the road - however I do have to hold it straight to keep the truck going straight.

You pull to the right because the right side is more positive(top leans out) by 1.6 degrees.

I wonder, aloud, whether the OP can do a quick ball and string diagnostic on the camber difference between the front wheels?

I'm not saying it will work - but I'm asking if it would work?

That is, would it work as a rough diagnostic of the difference between the two front wheels' camber if the OP hung a plumb bob off the wheels to measure the difference with a millimeter ruler between where it hits the floor?

For the numbers we're talking, is the measurement going to be in the range of millimeters? Or will the expected difference be too small to measure with a ruler?

Also, if your lifted with big tires. That makes alignment little more difficult. Especially for the average joe mechanic.

If I was looking for a wheel alignment shop. I’d make sure that they have worked on trucks and trucks with bigger tires.

Completely stock SR5.

Found a highly rated shop in Fremont. Guy sounded knowledgable and said the eccentric adjustments can be a tad tricky to get in spec for 4runners, but shouldnt be a problem unless something is bent. Looking forward to reporting back good results tomorrow!

I skimmed this thread and didn't see anyone mention this...check your tire pressure.

Low tire pressure will cause a pull in the steering. It's something that alignment monkeys should check before they do anything...but can you trust them to do that?

It would not work because with negative camber the plumb bob would have to hang off the inside of the tire. Why would he do this anyway, he already knows the difference between the two?

Its not tricky, believe me, its very easy. Before he starts, ask him why your included angle is so low. If he can't answer it, or explain what to look for, find another shop.

Will do. Will post up the print out tomorrow. I suspect the baseline numbers will look nothing like the one the first shop gave me...don’t think they did anything right now.

Yup, I did check this and equal all around.

Well straight up they didn't align it properly. Look at those camber readings, terrible. He only messed with the front because the rear has no adjustment. I would take it back and tell them it's still not right.

Sure the rear has no adjustment. But if the damn control arms are bent or bushings are shot. The rear could be way off. This is just a shit alignment shop.

Bingo. Also the rear should have numbers. Especially the thrust angle. Hell at this point they couldn't even tell you if the rear axle was centered properly.

I’m on my way back this afternoon. After going back and forth and being told I need a camber kit they agreed to have their master tech review it. I hope that will get things in order.

possible this old they could not adjust it , so needs replacing.. happens ..

im a happy camper now. Fremont Alignment did a wonderful job. Michael was awesome and fixed the other shops screw up in 10 minutes before dialing other things in. It's obvious now, but the other shop only touched the lower control arm bolts. Here's the print out and the truck is tracking just right and no more fighting the wheel.

That's great. Damn. He dialed that thing right in. Even have a little more caster on the right for road crown. Pretty much a perfect alignment. Make sure you get the guys name and if you need it aligned again, you can get the same guy.
