I finally caved and decided to sell the runner. It's posted here: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/sale-vehicles/117236-1998-4runner-lift-more.html I love this truck but because I work at home and only wheel once a year AND have a GTI in the driveway, I decided to consolidate and get the best of both vehicles in one that's a bit more functional with the family and weekend DIY projects right now.
I want a 2009+ double cab taco and went to see a friend at the local Toyota dealership today. They aren't losing much value and for another $3k or so I can get a brand new one so I'm looking at a black or gray TRD with the offroad package. However... after a few beers tonight I've been thinking about the Baja edition they had up there which is about $5k more. If I buy a brand new truck I won't be lifting it or doing new wheels and tires for about 4 years guaranteed. While it's not a beast of a mod, the fact that it has a 2" lift, tires, wheels, navigation and it's all done out of the box under warranty is appealing. We'll see.
