Question:
With no feelings to one side or the other, I would like to know the benefits of a trailer.
Here are my ignorant thoughts as someone who doesn't have any stance on whether its better or worse.
When I think of trailers I think of just another thing to worry about. I know there are some routes I take that are tight and would require longer times to maneuver a trailer. I also know of areas that forbid trailers and have the best camping sites around.
Being an overlander who still camps on ground and normally packs his rig with everything, I love the fact that I could potentially put a RTT on a trailer and leave it at camp to reserve the camp and not have to pack up anytime I leave.
For me, thats why I still use a tent on the ground. I dont like the thought of having to pack up tent every time I want to go explore.
Trailers have an amazing ability to pack what ever you want and not worry about space. With that thought I feel like you are then taking away from the fact of living off of what you have - If you have everything its easy to overland.
I really am not saying, If you have a trailer, you aren't overlanding.
I am just conveying my thoughts and hope you all can appreciate them and not take them as saying "I'm right, you're wrong".![]()
Just want input on the benefits vs cons.
All opinions appreciated.

There was a huge interest in overlanding in my area, but no organized unit. I created Overland Tennessee, and we now have 8 committed members who are the best friends one could ask for.
Many people focus on the vehicle aspect of Overlanding, and I am completely opposite. The vehicle is only a vessel for your journey... The people, time, and location are the most important aspect of it. I have built a capable rig, and just ordered a winch and bumper (it's neverending) but that's just to get more remote!
Speaking of Overlanding, have you seen the overland Time/speed/distance rally I'm organizing?

Great little event to get your feet wet, with huge sponsors, and thousands of prizes to be won.
How bad is the hood reflection when you use the Rigids? I like the idea of mounting them somewhere other than the roof due to the reflection issues, but wasn't sure how they fared mounted to the side mirrors like that.
