So, I'm almost finished my FXR retrofit. I've been at it for about 2 1/5 days. I just about wasted a day sanding/masking/painting/stripping.......repeat. I had some options I wanted to consider as far as painting went. They all went by the waste side and I ended up with my last option # 4.
Option:
1. Keep the shroud and inside chrome, just do a JDM style graphite paint on the sides.
2. Paint the inner light and shroud matching millenium silver and do JDM style graphite paint on the sides.
3. Paint the inner light matching millenium silver and the shrould and sides JDM dark graphite.
4 Paint everthing dark graphite.
My 1st pick went to sh__ when I jacked up all the chrome. I have a spare set of lights but I didn't want to have to go through breaking them down and setting the holes.
2 & 3 were okay, but the paint ran on the sides and looked like sh__. Very tough to mask of the side cause they have some kind of step to them.
#4 I'm actually happy with it. But I knew it would look good cause a lot of guys have this set-up.
