Thanks! I did mine outside on a day with good weather. You'll need the lighting to be able to see where to buff the wax haze anyhow. They just recommend you don't do it in high heat/direct sunlight or it may give you a crappy finish (fortunately my silver paint doesn't heat up as much as a darker colored vehicle). I used this kit:

I hear ya...total this probably took me about 2 hours including cleaning the glass & interior...I also had tree sap to remove from the hood & roof using a lil rubbing alcohol very carefully
Clay is amazing stuff, and the more often you do it the faster and better you can wax your rig !
I am a Mothers guy just based on family tradition...but I recommend clay, cleanerwax and then a follow up with the mothers "pure" carnuba (the so called step 3) as a top coat. That last coat goes really fast, easy on/esay off!

I am needing to do a good wax job on mine here soon but have never used Clay on any of my previous cars. Is it easy to use? Typically all I would do is use the 3 stage wax from Mcguires but have heard great things about Mothers as well.
Clay is very easy to use, just dont skip on the lube usually an instant detailer...the Mothers smells great btw...and a good microfiber towel or two for cleaning up after
Also, make sure the paint is cool and you are in the shade! It is a very satisfying job for me...love that smooth slick surface !
The work you put in will come back in ease of waxing, the clay smooths that surface and lets the wax do its work.
Also you should use a cleaner wax after the clay job...those step 3 waxes usually have less cleaners...those cleaners remove the mild oxidation and other impurities..
Another great product is Klasse All in One Polish - it is a "modern" polymer polish but it will restore those black roof rack bars and covers that oxidize faster than any part of the T4R...the stuff is amazing for removing oxidation and any marks in paint...although I remain a purist for overall wax jobs

Looks good man, clear barring is the way to go! Now time to remove those faded running boards and gain some ground clearance. I'm also about to take my roof rack off and hit them with Krylon Fusion Satin Black. Also buffing the headlights with some M105 makes them look like new again. Using a Gtiots Garage Dual Action Polisher makes buffing and waxing a breeze

I also love the clay bar. Gets the gunk off so the wax will stick to the paint vs. getting soaked up by the dirt. The things I'd like to add are the virtues of da polishers. Really gets the wax in the pores of the the paint gooood. A wax job seems to last a bit longer too. I also like the detailer when it's slightly dirty and not worth getting the bucket and hose out.

Thanks man. My gf is only 5'3" and uses the running boards so I'm gonna keep them lol. I plan on redoing them + the hitch receiver + the roof rack with some Krylon Satin Black too. Krylon has the best spray tip of any rattlecan paint so it's been my go-to for years. I do need to get rid of the yellow haze on the top of my headlight so I will def look into M105 as an option. Do you just rub that stuff on the lenses with a microfiber towel or do you use a drill attachment?

Took my truck to Sam's Club and they restored my headlights for $29 and guarantied it for 5 years!
Wow I had no idea they did that. There's one near me, in fact I was just there Sunday getting some awesome steaks for cheap lol

I like Crystal View. Works great and since it has a clear finishing coat, lasts longer than most of the others.

Ive used your wax and my da polisher on my headlights with great results. I would think a drill attachment polishers would do about the same job. My results last about a year. I'm gonna try a paint cleaner before I wax them next time.
