I've read reports of officers being shot at in Baton Rouge this AM. Not much info out there yet.
While I respect all people as individuals. When someone that does not vote for our politics or is not subject to the mess that is going on in America there opinion is just that. Some opinions are just that. Just opinions. And some on here seem to be trolling for a reaction. If Americans were telling Canadians that they are wrong about what's going on in their country. I'm sure more than one Canadian with sense of Canadian pride would chime in and ask them why those crazy Americans feel like they understand Canadian laws and politics so much. The bottom line is with our current government, last 24 years, there have been laws made based solely on opinion and completely subverting the constitutional process. There by bypassing the voter. And in a republic that's a big no no. So some of us are more passionate about it that others. The media is controlled mostly a left/liberal group of people and the same goes for most of social media. So when we see what appear to be lies, miss information, and just blatant ignoring of actual facts we tend to point it out. And that goes for both sides. It's just now since we have a liberal progressive president it the conservative side that's vocal. When bush was in office the left screamed to high heaven. So it's pretty much the same response on both sides.
To the reality of the situation is that the press has us so divided amongst ourselves that we don't realize that we probably have more in common with each other than our "like minded" elected representatives.

Riiiight it's the divisive media. Has nothing to do with the fact that one of the people running for president, the leader of the country, has been out there advocating to deport 11 million people, build a giant wall and card Muslims. That's really inspired an air or inclusiveness and tolerance.
We would all be getting along if it wasn't for the damn media falsely telling us intolerance still exists. What are they, a bunch of libtards?!
While I don't disagree that the political rethoric is an in your face factor and both parties have participated in divisive politics & blocking progress, the media focus and the financial benefits it derives from stoking emotional as well as physical conflict plays a very imfluential role. Chicken or egg, no longer matters. It's very easy to complain, much harder to work to solutions that reflect an entire nation.......both Trump and the 24hr news media have exploited wedge issues that will directly impact ALL citizen's rights.Riiiight it's the divisive media. Seems like a bit of a false equivalency. What has Clinton said that has been as divisive as Trump?

Odd that Cleveland Police are asking for a suspension of open carry law during the GOP convention. I though more guns made us safer.
The police can "ask" for the constitution to be suspended. That doesn't make it legal, doesn't make it the right thing to do nor does it make anyone "safer".
I've heard police say we should get rid of 1A and 4A and it would make their jobs "easier" but that isn't what our Constitution is about and it doesn't make anyone "safer".
Who are all of you people who don't understand Rights? "Safety" is an illusion, quit allowing people to fool you into believing it exists and to give up your Rights to trade for the false promise of it.
Who are you people who see what's going on here- the effing POLICE cannot even keep themselves "safe" from people wanting to do them harm; and yet you think people should be disarmed and rely on the police to keep us safe?
The ability to identify logical fallacies in the arguments of others, and to avoid them in one’s own arguments, is both valuable and increasingly rare. Fallacious reasoning keeps us from knowing the truth, and the inability to think critically makes us vulnerable to manipulation by those skilled in the art of rhetoric.
So let me ask you, those who seek to limit the rights of your fellow citizens and don't want them to carry guns- how can you make the cogent argument against all of the stats, facts and real world shoot statistics? How can you look at LEO's across the nation being killed and think that taking away rights/guns from the law abiding will change thing sin a positive way?
How can you not understand that firearms are used 80X's more in saving someones life than in taking them? How can you not understand that when an armed citizen intervenes with an active shooter the loss of life is far less than when you have to wait for the police to mobilize and show up to take on the shooter?
The position against gun rights is riddled, ABSOLUTLEY riddled with logical fallacies and turning blind eyes to hard facts.
And you know what our Constitution is about? You completely understand the frame of reference, the will, and intentions of those who wrote it back then?
But I agree........the more guns at the RNC the better. EVERYONE in attendance should ABSOLUTELY have one fully loaded and ready. Their candidate is built on entertainment so let's have some. Will make great television.

Yes, I do; to the greatest extent that I can. I have studied the Federalist papers and the folks who wrote them quite extensively.
You should do the same yourself. Knowledge is power!

And perceived knowledge is reckless.
