First off: It is against forum rules to have a political or religious thread. You guys get that? Huh?

If anyone remembers I rightly banned those threads here for a time. You guys whined and complained and I gave in and let them proceed. Actually several promised to keep them civil. Oops.

I then, on advice of a member, quit posting in these threads to avoid any sense of impropriety. [MENTION=56396]Hepar[/MENTION] BTW you will never ever find anyone, even a mod, that will be impartial on these topics. Truth.

Right now I am breaking the forum rules by posting as all of you are. I have stayed away for weeks because I have decided that it does not matter to me who wins or loses this election or any election. I have one vote. My opinion does not matter. Now...

I got a complaint. I looked at that post. I then looked only at his last several posts. I didn't go back to read this train wreck of a thread. I'm sure if I did I would find every single poster said something that is bannable. Again even posting in this thread is an offense.

So what to do...
The easiest thing is to just shut down this and all political threads and not let any threads of this type on here again. This is the reason these topics were banned in the first place. They are trouble.

I did go back just a few minutes ago and read the last 10 pages. Yes it's true both sides crossed the line but again you are already breaking the rules so what's another? I did find it funny that after a thousand posts both sides are still trying unsuccessfully to convince the other side you are right. It will never happen.

I am going to talk to a few other mods to see what their opinion is.

Yes, it is very hard and often times a lot of stuff gets misinterpreted. I've had many issues myself being misunderstood being I'm very sarcastic. However, given the back and forth nature before that comment, if you indeed meant it as "let's meet up and discuss over beers" you would have said so specifically or to something along those lines. If you really don't see that, I feel that is more of an issue of stubbornness than anything else.

Which is why I said it. The phrase "impartial moderator" in any context is an oxymoron to me.

That seems like a good way to let hate groups win.

I don't think it is as simple as a yes or no. Too many variables. My initial reaction would be, why would the KKK or any other hate group want to adopt a new flag? That it wouldn't make any sense for one to gravitate towards a new design when the old one would serve its purpose to them to an even greater degree with any sort of change.

You were already shut down on this just a few posts ago, but you bring it up again as if you don't remember. You're trying to twist and spin, and it's not going to work. After reading this he makes a lot of sense. I am going to try and drop out of these type of threads. I said try as I make at least 1 mistake a day. If I have something civil to post I may try but that a pretty tall order when both sides are convinced the other is wrong. Thank you for the reality check.

This is why I stopped coming to this part of town. It's a roundabout with no exit. We are divided enough no need to divid us by politics.

A PM to me would have accomplished the same thing without putting you on one side of the argument or the other or calling me out in public (that's a fundamental leadership teaching BTW).

It makes things look worse that there didn't seem to be any interest in shutting it down a week or two ago, even though it was always against the rules and clearly uncivil. I'll freely admit that those last couple of posts I made were harsh, but taking them out of context isn't fair. That's not an excuse, it's simply the facts.

Exactly. Most current events to today are political. T4r is a great place and will be still if no politics were involved.

Entertainment value? Really? It would be entertainment if posters learned to control themselves and not take comments personally. Also any forum that discusses politics has some forms of moderation to get rid of the crazies who post. Any topic is fine for discussion until people cannot discern the difference between attacking the thought versus attacking the messenger. Go read the past several pages of this thread.

The other alternative would be for me to go through this thread and ban everyone who broke the rules. Let's see what the other mods say.

Even you don't like the guy you should be able to admit that it is never a good idea to post ones address online. Frankly T4R is probably the safest place you could post it because we are not crazy and even the jerks (on all sides) are usually just being reactive vs. constant jerk. Try posting it over at 4chan and see what happens.
