Anchorage streets = Hockey Rink

It rained yesterday after several weeks of snow. guess what? Yup. Car Hockey. Unreal as every vehicle 4WD 2WD studs non studs go flying through intersections can't stop worth a dang........silly. went out and got my new Yakima Load Warrior packed it up got inside and stayin put. What do other locations do when it's pure ice>>>>????

Yikes, that sounds hairy and you definitely don't want to go play car hockey unless you are driving a cement mixer or a tank! We get black ice and stuff up in the mountains down here in SoCal and that's bad enough because you never know where it is until you feel that slip. Someone actually posted on here awhile back about a company that makes bolt on treads (like a tank has) but I can't find it. I think it was Canadian. So are you sleeping in your 4Runner until conditions improve?

Yikes, that sounds hairy and you definitely don't want to go play car hockey unless you are driving a cement mixer or a tank! We get black ice and stuff up in the mountains down here in SoCal and that's bad enough because you never know where it is until you feel that slip. Someone actually posted on here awhile back about a company that makes bolt on treads (like a tank has) but I can't find it. I think it was Canadian. mos def let me know if you find the tank treads. hopefully by the morning the fleet of snow plows will have sparked through the ice. getting closer to the shortest day of the year up here. sunrise about 10am sunset about 330pm.....staying in the dark hours if I am not working. fruitcake and brandy to get through the winter chill. I do have cleats on my shoes did I mention that??

So I just got off the phone with my Uncle telling me about the ice in Anchorage and I hop on TR4 and here is your post .......lol.

I can go out bummin around in big snows and have a blast , but ice scares the crap out of me because there is absolutely no control once you start to go ....your going whether you like it or not , not to mention other drivers.

A few years ago we had a bad ice storm , my cousin was on the hiway standing being filmed by the news ( he was working and is a cop ) crashes were happening behind him left and right , he then as he is standing there begins to ski/slide on the ice , the camera news films him as he slides down the road on his feet , and the next thing you see is his legs flying up in the air. He was really pissed while talking to the news because people were driving so fast . It was in a very rich area and everyone in their BMW , Porsche , land rovers 4x4 suv's were driving like it was dry pavement.

Scary, looks like an air hockey puck. How are those getting out of their cars think their little 100-200lb frame is going to stop their 3000lb car from sliding and not get taken for a ride? :bash:

we get those in New England annually... It definitely isn't fun, especially when you have to drive. If I am home, I remain home. I don't like to be the next hockey puck.

THANK GOD IT DOESN'T SNOW IN LA!!!!! If it ever does snow (and get icy) like this and I am home...I am not leaving the house!
