Great write up buddy. Now I'm jealous and will probably convert my switch so it can be depressed for closed and pressed for open. Also thanks for the shout out, glad I could help you get it figured out.
I thought this was a switch that was closed by pressing, didn't stay depressed but stays closed, then resets to open when the vehicle is shut off?

Once you release the button the switch becomes open, and stays that way until you restart your 4runner.
That was all I needed to hear. I just want something that resets back to OEM when I shut the engine off, so I can't accidentally leave my wife without VSC by forgetting to flip a switch.
The ECU will reset it back as long as you have a momentary switch.
Right. We're just interrupting the circuit for a second to get it to throw a code, right?
Correct. But if you were to use a push button or toggle it would stay disabled until you push the button or flipped the toggle again. Momentary switch revert back to the original position once power is cut. A push button or toggle will remain disabled until you physically push the button again.
MStudt I think your diagram has the descriptions for 87 and 87a backwards. As I see it, 87a is normally closed, thus keeping the circuit in-tact at all times UNTIL the switch is pressed and the relay flips the circuit open, thus breaking the connection and throwing VSC/Trac off. Right?

87a is normally closed (connected to 30)
Unless the mfr. is saying "use 87a if your switch is normally open"

The diagram on the relay is in the active or energized state. See the placement of the coil and how it is pulling the contact towards it. So he was correct in his digram.

If that were the case the wiring would not work as MStudt and I have it. The circuit would be open until the relay was energized and thus VSC/Trac would be always disabled.

You ever get together with the Mo4wd guys?
