Sounds awfully fishy.....Sirius would probably have info on who set it all up, via phone or email, etc.....I'd contact them and then check all you credit cards to make sure no one has gotten ahold of one or all of them.....happens all the time.....

Defintely check credit cards, but also would be a good time to check your credit reports. All someone needs is your name, social, and date of birth and they can open a *new* credit account in your name, but with a different address. You wouldn't know about it until you start getting collection calls or are turned down for a loan, etc., because of damaged credit. Having said that, yes, hopefully it's just someone trying to do something nice. But cover your butt just in case.
 
In all seriousness, a majority of all identity thefts are done by someone the victim already knows, since the people you know/trust have the easiest access to your personal information. I'm not saying you should give your family the 3rd degree, but make sure a nice gift isn't the affect of malicious intent.

Champ- My mom is part of Mom's of America and I have received some gift cards from people I dont know and sometimes other foundations will have members that know you are a Vet and more important to some a Wounded Vet that might send a gift on occasion, most will include a Thank you letter if it comes from that route but I have recieved a couple that were anonymous. I would still follow advice of others and check credit activity and bank statements.
 
So I just checked all three of my credit scores and nothing new has come up so I'm gonna chalk this one up to good fortune and a thanks for my service and sacrifice

Good to know. Check it again in a few weeks if you can. It would take some time for a new account opened in your name to appear on your report. Speaking from experience.

I would write the dude 40 minutes away a letter asking if he ordered a sirius set up. Or if he somehow got a hold of your account information.

Agreed, but I'd take it a step further and visit him personally - with an open mind and kind heart to begin with. Let him take the conversation wherever it will go from there.

I would as well, however, that's 80 miles round trip...




The whole situation just seems fishy to me. Like I said before, my buddies enrolled in the WWP have never received anything that wasn't somehow branded with the WWP logo, or an accompanying letter.

Lmfao, yeah just trying to lighten the situation, I'd be scared of ID theft if I started receiving expensive items unexpectedly..
