Another Bilstein Question, Part #?

I have an 06 T4R Sport with a shot X-REAS system. I'm in the process of gathering all the parts for the switch over to the Bilstein 5100's all around w/FJ Coils and springs. I have the FJ Coils/springs from a great hook up on the FJ forum. I'm looking for the Bili's now and I'm getting conflicting info from online vendors. I'm obviously looking for the best price but I'm seeing all kinds of crazy part numbers. Would these be the correct part #'s?

Front- BE5-C475-H1
Rear - BE5-E703-H0


I hope those are right because the site with those #'s have the best price.

Scoward, I'm guessing that is from shockwarehouse.com? I'm having the same dilemma as well... For those that ordered through them, does the 5% coupon still work? If so, what is it?

Hopefully someone answers this!
 
These are the same part numbers for the set I just received from Billstein.

Now looking for someone to install them.
 
Thats right 415runner562.....I'm looking for confirmation from someone who did the swap out with those exact part #'s before I order them. I also got this response from them through an email after inquiring about getting the right parts for the swap out-

"Bilstein does not make any shocks to replace the X-REAS system, and they do not recommend replacing as it is a more complex issue than just removing the X-REAS system and changing the shocks and springs."

I've read up on the "Bili/FJ Spring swap out" all over this site, I would agree that it is a "job" but is it really a "complex issue"? Hope I'm not missing anything here.

I did the swap for the same set-up on my '03 sport that had a blown XREAS shock also. It is not that hard to do, took me about 5 hours but I swapped front axles while I was at it also.

You will see when you take out the stock shocks, that there is a junction point not too far away from each shock that a small line runs to. If you are getting rid of the XREAS, unbolt the lines at that point & you can either leave the rest of the line that runs to the opposite corner shock jumction point or you can yank em out, which I did at a later point. took about 20 minutes to do. There is no electrical portion to this system, it is controlled by hydrolic valves that sit on the main frame on each side right about where the rear door is. The say Yamaha on them. I just unbolted everything & tossed it away.

I was glad I made the swap & haven't noticed any decrease in ride quality either, if anything it is better due to the stiffer springs.

I am thinking that Bilstein makes that comment as they have no clue what is involved with the system & it is a CYA things. If XREAS had electronic controlled valving then changing things could be a problem but you will see that each X linked pair is completely enclosed system & only hydrolic & no electrical wires are connected in any way.

Depending on the website selling these. There are two sets of parts numbers. The numbers you have are correct. Bilstein has a spreadsheet with cross reference to the new numbers.

New Numbers
Front 24-186711
Rear 33-187174

This might explain some of the inconsistencies.

I just ordered some Sunday from 4wheelparts.com They had a March madness sale 7% off and another $20 off for using google checkout

I have the 5100 setup on my T4R (~5000miles now) - which I purchased from Shockwarehouse. Seems they do not carry the 5100 rear anymore. The part number you list for the rear is the Heavy Duty (HD-yellow model). However, these shocks have the same exact valving as the 5100 and don't worry, it's not visible unless you get underneath. The difference between them is the 5100 is longer to accommodate a 0"-2" inch lift - can't use the HD on a lifted rear. Also, if you want to spend a bit more there's the new Bilstein 5160 rear reservoir shock and different valving. I have a issue with the rear being a bit bouncy and I hope to soon change the rears out with these. I did not lift the rear and I had to put the spring perch to the 0.75" lift setting to about a 1.5" - 1.75" lift. I thought I had this issue because my thinking was the V8s had stronger front spring rates, but I think there are others with V8s that got the lift to what Bilstein had specified for each level.
I have a posting on the valving rates and posts on the 5100 front end lift.

How come when I put the part # F4-BE5-E703-H0 (rear shocks) on the Bilstein website, it brings me to this page showing the silver 5100's and not the yellow HD's?

Sorry, yes those are the 5100s. I clicked on the part number on their site and it shows you a pic of the yellow ones. If you click on the "Bilstein Heavy Duty" you get the 5100 pic - go figure.
 
champ306, do you drive a FJC? if so, the part numbers should be the same for the bilstein shocks. i hope i read your question correctly.
