I'm having a hard time getting the top exhaust bracket bolt out. Any tricks to getting it done? I feel like I've been working on this bolt for two hours and no luck. I have two extensions and a swivel attachment but I can't get any leverage to loosen the stupid thing.
I finally got the starter loose but I can't unclip one of the connections to the starter. The wires are starting to break off so I'm really nervous about going further.
It is a PITA you have to push a little clip on the front down and pull at the same time.
I found this thread from another 4runner forum. Thanks for the awesome writeup!
I'm having problems with loosening the bolts holding the alternator in. I've soaked them in PB blaster for a few days now, and bought an impact wrench from HFT and they're still stuck. Any suggestions?
Are these the complete parts that i need?Amazon.com Shopping Cart
I've got both contacts and plunger that I didn't end up using if you're interested in buying.
They were installed for a day but the wires going to the starter snapped so I ended up buying a new starter.
Nothing showed up on the link, but I would just go down to your local starter/alternator repair shop and pick up a couple of contacts. Should run you in the range of Free - $5
That looks to be what is needed, as only one side is usually worn. ^^
Such a small part with so many price differences.
I paid $58.40 for the parts from the Toyota dealership, I was thinking maybe $35 shipped.how much, shipped?

Here are the Toyota part numbers so you can compare.
28235-54380 (Plunger, magnet switch)
28226-54340 (Kit, repair service)
28226-72010 (Starter Kit)
that sounds fair if those parts are still available...
Still available. I'll send you a PM with my Paypal address.
